It represents the Courage Brewery, who were Norths major sponsor at the time.

I wondered about that myself I thought it was the Le coq sportif logo as the gurnsey maker

Absolutely the worst beer ever brewed but at some stages the only beer available in the NMFC Social Club. I had my wedding in the social club and part of the deal was CUB beer only - they serves it in Courage jugs so as not to be seen to break their contract.

I think it was a golden cockerel on a red background. From the other end of the ground at the MCG in the drawn grand final my late father (a Ron Barassi loving, Melbourne supporting, ex-POW of the Japanese) thought we were sponsored by the Japanese Government.

Even if we had been, he would have barracked for North ahead of Collingwood.

You were looked after in the social club though. If you worked or did a gig there Robert Smith always looked after you. That's one of the reasons Essendon kept trying to poach him.

NMFC 1928. The famous white V jumper

I wonder how it would look like if it were to be worn today..? What about a monogram.

Ohh here's something that I prepared earlier.

The great Barry Cable

Great photo. I like those that show a bit of the old Arden Street ground. I had a reserved seat under the outer shed in the photo for our last game v Richmond in 1985. There were only about 6,000 people there. Amazing to think that a game against Richmond would only draw that many.

I miss those old days....

Caldwell and Carter. Superb!

Excellent work mate, thanks. :thumbsu:

Remember seeing Arthur Caldwell as a kid in a photo with Brunswick Football club, probably in the early 1900's i guess, think Brunswick were known as the Pottery workers in those days, due to the number of brickworks around the area.

Stuffed that up, it was Ex prime Minister John Curtin not Arthur Calwell

early 1900's ...Brunswick Football club.

Frank Lording (possibly Hotham/North Melbournes first state representative)

lording-frank-clifford-june-1887.jpg

Lording was a capable footballer and was selected for the Victorian team in the first Inter-colonial football match against South Australia on the Tuesday 1st July 1879 which the Victorian team won. The Hotham Football club later became the North Melbourne Football Club and he was selected as state representative in 1879 and 1881.

W. "Bill" Russ (A very rare picture featuring the short lived monogram jumper)

59 games, 16 goals, 1925 - 1928

A member of Norths inaugural 1925 VFL side which beat Geelong.
