Name 14 Premiership coaches and 'gild the lily', to include Clarkson,Pagan and Williams.

Why don't we only allow potential coaches to be sourced from a pool of premiership players/assistant coaches.

Then make sure their partners are siblings of other premiership players/assistant coaches.

Then we will have a super gene pool of potential coaches.

In Sumich's case, he's only ever been at West Coast, though.

Scott had obviously had Brisbane, and McCartney had been at Richmond and Geelong.

I dunno how important that is (I'm hoping it's not, given Hird's sheltered existence).

Of course not. You don't take anything in isolation.

Cameron could well buck the trend and fall into the same category as Roos, I'm just saying that premiership experience as either a player, an assistant, or a senior coach at one of the major state leagues (WAFL, SANFL, VFL) should be a must. In my opinion, purely because the weight of numbers says it's not a coincidence.

Some folks meet that criteria but still aren't cut out for a senior gig. From our own club, Shaw, Harvey, and Bailey all fit that bill.

Wow, looks like Collingwood are doing the same as Richmond with the "medals for top 5 in the B&F" horseshit.

I hope to God we never do that. Please please please.

Cameron met the Giants today to fill the vacancy as senior assistant and ultimate successor to senior coach Kevin Sheedy.

If Cameron takes this job, Port's dream ticket of a Cameron-Alan Richardson partnership at Alberton will fall apart.

This will leave the Power to opt for Hawthorn assistant Adam Simpson with Richardson or back pedal to experienced coach Rodney Eade.

Port had hoped to announce Cameron as coach tomorrow

WOW!

There is no guarantee that Sheeds will ever relinquish the gig at GWS.

Yeah, nah.

The senior gig from '14 onwards is there for Cameron, and by jove you'd take it over the PA one.

The Melbourne route in itself is wrong, but phasing them out is a good way to go. I think Primus was trying to do that, but was probably short-changed by injuries here and there and a greater pressure to produce results.

Nevertheless, the GWS ride to success is a cushy one.

People forget that pretty much half their side was injured through the year. They were pretty competitive early on. Then all their good senior and younger players got injured, some quite badly or repeatedly.

Team of the century coach was already a premiership coach elsewhere before he went to Carlton.

Say. No. More.

How many other clubs have this wrinkle in their Team of the Century?

None. Not even Norf.
