From the past 14 winners, 7 were drafted by the club. 50%!
Of those 7, three were taken from the SANFL.
Of the remaining 4, 1 was a #1 draft pick, handed on a platter, under questionable circumstances.

Pathetic, useless, talentless, piece of shit of a club.

For God's sake, don't look at their past 2 Brownlow winners or past 2 Norm Smith winners.

Milne > Carlton?

A fait accompli...

The Melbourne route in itself is wrong, but phasing them out is a good way to go. I think Primus was trying to do that, but was probably short-changed by injuries here and there and a greater pressure to produce results.

Nevertheless, the GWS ride to success is a cushy one.

I reckon I would want to take PA to prove myself as a coach.

Yeah, but people seem to have no problem in heralding the achievements of Malthouse, Blight, Matthews, Williams, et cetera.

I think Port have reached that "Ok, OK, whatever the **** we have been doing for the past however long is completely and utterly ****ed and we should stop doing it and do something completely other".
That took Port a good 3 years too long, but they're there now.
Clean sheet, everything questioned.

Carlton have much the same effect.

The amount of vitriol dished out about Judd as a footballer (he's a shit of a person, of course) is pretty ridiculous.

No official agreement with Williams, and reportedly other issues like his wife not taking to Sydney.

This is wired into Cameron's contract.

I would have taken the Power gig.

5 years is enough time to turn a club around.

DOS on the main board suggested Simpson as an alternative to Hinkley.

I know why he suggested that, but it doesn't strike me as a terrible alternative. Robust cred.

Chaplin's decent, but on a 4 year deal? And 3 for Knights?
Does he actuually realise that if they get better, they're going to have to pay their own guys more?

It's an interesting way to go about it, to be sure. Certainly not emulating any other method in particular that I can think of. Sydney was more about trading for peanuts, and I assume they didn't make any exorbitant commitments to the recycled players.

Maybe he's just leaving an almighty mess for Choco.

I'm pretty sure Sydney have offered long contracts if they needed to.

Knights has had 1 good season in the AFL and been hampered by injuries throughout his career. Chaplin is serviceable, nothing more, and his decision making under pressure is very ordinary. That is a lot of time and presumably money going into these guys.

Good luck to Richmond though, if this works for them it'll be a masterstroke otherwise they will look like fools.
