I've been resigned to the fact that a period of AFL history will be dominated by GC and GWS. But by then the regime will have changed, and if the clubs haven't built a fanbase and the experiment isn't profitable then to hell with it.

I'll refrain from gormless NM bashing, but I was astonished at the length of Scott's recent contract extension. Nothing has assuaged those doubts that I've seen this year.

It would certainly be possible for the AFL to use Melbourne's lack of money to leverage the club into making certain decisions.

I kind of agree, especially since it looks like it will coincide with our (hopeful) rise. It's scary to think of Ablett, Bennell, O'Meara, Dixon, Prestia, plus more all at their best in a few years.

Honestly couldn't give a sh*t about them. But when certain areas of their fanbase seem so keen to see us fail, watching that fate fall upon them has a very tranquil, uplifting effect on me.

I don't really get the hate for North other than their supporters, which aren't exactly worse than Richmond's or Carlton's. I suppose a lot of it could do with the late '90s/early '00s but until the past year or so I didn't realise that people, specifically Essendon supporters, hated them or even cared about them.
