A little bit offtopic but I was listening to the radio last night and the following question was asked to Jeff Kennett:

"Is Buddy Hawthorn's best player?"
He gave a longwinded and roundabout response but in the end he said there were 3-4 players ahead of him.

So I ask you guys the same question - Is Buddy Hawthorn's best player?; yes or no response

Yes for mine.
I'd have Hodge ahead of Buddy as the better player.

However, I think Buddy is more important to Hawthorn.

Franklin the number one Hawthorn player for mine. Can turn a game on its head in seconds, freak.

Neither Richmond or Carlton are top 8 quality on this game. I think we will prove to be better than both these sides. Early call I know. :)

Bloody Hampson. Megan Gale will have been shamed by your kicking tonight. She will dump you cold after your efforts son.

Franklin is the best player.

We all know how flashy and damaging he can be, but he has a prodigious workrate - This facet of his game is under-rated.

howcome carlton gets the free 4 points at the start of every season?? seems a little unfair!!

The Cats and the Saints aren't looking much better tonight either.

Old, Slow and boring to watch.

Couple of things out of tonight.

Hayes still has the best side step for a white man in the AFL and Bartel will again finish top 5 in the Brownlow (two of my favourite players right there).

Secondly, are we seriously that far behind these guys? That Geelong team seriously doesn not look that scary anymore.

Collingwood>>>>>Daylight>>>>>the rest. If we are good enough, we could make serious inroads this year - it is up for grabs imo.

Geelong looked quite poor tonight, to be honest.

St Kilda just did what they do, in scrapping, so they never look amazing, but usually get the job done. So it was harder to gauge them.

However I think Geelong will be in the 5-9 category this year. They just seemed to have no real intent, and Chris Scott's messages at half time didn't instill a lot of confidence.

Only round 1 though.

You're right about Hayes, I dare say Karmichael has a good goosey too.
On a side note Courtney Dempsey... AMAZING stepper.

Definitely agree. If we can keep our injuries down and our intesity up for the whole year we r a real shot at making real inroads. Will be interesting to see how the year unfolds.

Pies are ridiculously fit - watched their game today and almost all of their midfielders are supreme gut runners - Swan, Thomas, Pendlebury, Ball etc they just don't stop and it allows them to swarm to every contest and outnumber the opposition. It pains me to say it but the flag is theirs to lose if they can keep a relatively clean bill of health and focus - unless another team rockets into contention...remains to be seen though.
