Top 4 for this season should be Pies, Cats, Freo, us/Hawks.

Everyone sprouts how finishing top 4 is essential to get a double chance and also to freshen up if you win week 1 of the finals.

If we finish top 4 and have round 24 off, winning week 1 of the finals would then give us another week off. Too much of an interrupted run at the wrong time of year.

Based on this, I'd like us to finish 5th or 6th to guarantee a home 1st final, then get continuity into the rest of the finals should we get up. Sure we'd miss the double chance but do we really want 2 weeks off out of 3 at that time of year?

Well i do not belong among the premature generation so i am prepared to wait on that one given we are talking about a second year tall
He has not been worse than any other tall in the draft so far !

I can play the good call bad call game if you want to, there are a few dud calls but there are some bloody good ones as well

Anyway my point was that highly paid media personal should knowthe history of the players .........

No he hasn't, but I'm sure most of us are quite pleased with the Melky Bar Kid instead of a tall.

I am more than happy as well, i think there was some discussion after that we still achieved a similar result as we managed to get Carlisle so that covered the tall angle.

There are a few i am happy that did not go in the order i would have at the time, Hurley over Rich is one and as stated more than happy with Melksham and Carlisle.

To be fair my order was Talia, Bastinac, Moore, and at 33 i would have picked Christenson as he was available.

It shows recruiting is not an exact science and there can be more than one correct answer. I happy with hitting 60% , it may not be the absolute top of the tree but it is better than average

I reckon the top four is any of Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn and Freo's to lose.

I can already say I was wrong about Geelong; I thought after round 1 they looked poor with no direction or drive, and would slump to around 6th.

Don't forget Sydney. They have been far more impressive than Hawthorn if you ask me.

Collingwood is the only top 4 cert for me, with Geelong very close. Freemantle, Sydney, Essendon, Saints, Dogs, Hawks and Carlton are still in with a chance this early in the season.

Don't think Hawks will get near it though. What have they done to show they are playing better than their last two years?

Yeah I always seem to forget Sydney. Just imagine if they get a home final; their umpires won't let them lose

Hawthorn have impressed me with the return of their ferocity at the ball and man, and they seem to be moving the ball on much, much quicker this year. Both of those qualities should see them trouble most teams, imo.

There always seems to be at least one that isn't the standard of the other top four sides.

Bulldogs most years, St Kilda back in 08, North before that.

This year it'll probably be one of Hawthorn, Freo, Sydney.

They have just as much a chance as Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn and Freemantle for me. Never really put sides away though, which might mean they wont get there on % this year.

This would be my form ladder to date:

Collingwood - Won everything with no real troubles
Geelong - Won everything, but have been pushed in a few
Freemantle - Only beaten by Geelong, played some decent teams
Essendon - Beaten by Collingwood, robbed against Sydney, drew with Carlton and smashed the Dogs and Saints
Sydney - Only beaten by Geelong, but drew with Melbourne and nicked the other two
Carlton - Only beaten by Collingwood, but haven't beaten anyone good

Hawthorn - Only beaten easy beats and lost to Adelaide and Geelong
St. Kilda - Only beaten easy beats and drew with Richmond, but lost to two form sides in Essendon and Geelong

If it's just the coach, I hope they realise sooner than later. Some of these young lads will look elsewhre if improvement doesn't come. And before you know it, they have a poorly coached bunch of mid 20ish players.

That Jack Darling goes alright ay hehe. Been very impressive in his first few games. Eagles just look like a far better drilled team now. Their pressure is very good, they look hungrier and their executing a bit better than last year too.

They'll upset more than a few I reckon.
