I'm posting this because I'm stoked and I want to share this, but have nowhere here to do so.

My partner just told me that she has heard that the height of your child at 2 years, multiplied by 2, will equal the approximate height of your child when they reach adulthood. Our son turns 2 in a bit over a month. By the given formula he's set to hit a lazy 200cm, easily.
Anyone know if there's any truth to the theory though?

Regardless, I may have a key forward or a ruckman here :D

The general rule that doctors go by to work out the approximate expected height of a child is to take the average of the heights of the parents and then add 7 if its a boy (i.e. [(Dad's height + Mum's height)/2] +7 )

That would be fairly unreliable from my own experience (8cm taller than dad and about 20 taller than mum, 25cm taller than my sister)

Wait and see, some kids (boys) have growth spurts @ 17-18; some stop at 12-13.

Just relaying what doctors use as a simple way of determining an average expected height. A better and more accurate method is to use growth charts to work out work out.

That said, neither is that great a method because there are more factors involved in height than just genetics. You only have to look at the increasing average height of the general population of many countries around the world to see that

Never heard of doubling a child's height at age 2 as a way of estimating height like ghostdog mentioned

Ahh yep I missed that but I saw Kosi bump Curnow at quarter time which started the scuffle.

*edit* just saw the highlights of Montagna bumping Curnow before he went off and got his shoulder strapped.

3rd after Round 7? Do we really care that much? I mean, really...

To put it into perspective Team Judd have the BYE next weekend followed by a meeting with Geelong. On tonight's evidence they probably should consider not rocking up.

I drifted off at work the other day, just for something different.

Started thinking that with our winning culture back, an envious coaching team, and brand new facilities on the way, how players will more than likely start eyeballing us during trade season.

Goddard looks disinterested, Dangerfield's being wasted away from Victoria for the Crows, Cyril's return to Essendon would be more likely with "the old Essendon" back.

Just imagine....

Would give away most of our picks for a genuine star player this year. We have enough youth and depth on the list that it would be worth a shot.

You can't trade future picks can you? Would give away the first couple in the Daniher draft for sure if we could...
