All the non-Essendon results have basically been good for Essendon.

Top stuff.

(Including the Adelaide win. Let's just hope that Bicks engineers a few more wins for them so they don't have to give Goody a call.)

Dan Hannebury

I know there are other places to put this thread but I just wanted to show my appreciation for this kid.

That contest with Hurley was one of the hardest hits I've seen live and both were worse for wear. The thud you heard when they collided was immense. Going back with the flight of the ball and he didn't shirk at all. Just amazing courage from both guys.

But that's not what impressed me the most. After going off the ground very sore the moment he came back on it was Hannebury's turn to go again. Most players after copping the hit just moments earlier would have thought wiser and pulled out. Not Hannebury, he went as hard at that second contest as he did against Hurley. Just amazing courage from a second year player.

It was wonderful to watch.

Re: Dan Hannebury

Great effort. But what he did is basically standard procedure. Only a select few players can't do things like that. Example, an ex Bomber playing at Tigerland.

I agree, standard procedure to go in the first time.

But to go again just moments after getting crunched takes courage.

Re: Dan Hannebury

He's a third year, same draft as Hurley.
Good kid though.
My bad.

Forgot he played a few games while studying in Melbourne in his first season.

Re: Dan Hannebury

he's a type of player we lack in our side, we have hocking and Watson but we need another.

Re: Dan Hannebury

**** me.. I'm almost done with this board.

Praising other teams players.. heard it all now.
Don't like it, don't post.

We'd all be better for it.

Re: Dan Hannebury

focus on the team you support and OUR players, not the opposition.

Would have been great if Hannebury got on the end of Goodes pass and kicked the winning goal with broken ribs. Great footy story.

**** me..... we have a toast thread for an opposition player on our board. Can someone shut this shit down. I don't want to see threads bagging our own amogst a thread praising the opposition.

shut it down, shut it down now.

If people didn't like the thread and ignored it the thread would eventually make its way off the first page never to be seen again.

By continually posting your criticisms of the thread you are bumping the thread and making it more appealing to others. The exact opposite of what you're trying to achieve.

If the thread isn't appropriate, report the post and I'm sure mods will remove it or merge it with a more appropriate thread if they agree with you.

I'm sorry I offended you Kelvin, actually wait... no I'm not.

Re: Dan Hannebury

We're not shutting it down.

It'll likely be bumped down to page 2 or 3 within a day or two anyway, and it's not offending anyone.. surely.

There's no hidden agenda, it's gaining interest, mostly for the right reasons.

The solution is always simple for new threads you don't like: don't post, and watch it disappear.

EDIT: Beaten to it by AS9.

Re: Dan Hannebury

I was only about 20m away and the noise was sickening, I thought he'd have some serious internal damage or something. Great effort from Hurls & Hannebery, so much courage :thumbsu:

Re: Dan Hannebury

the worst type of supporters are the one eyed supporters who have beer goggles on in regards to their own players and the blinkers on in praising others.

Hannebury is gaining my respect as Archer, Solomon, J. Brownm Rooke have done previously. Hurley's effort doesn't go un-recognised either for he is playing hurt yet still attacks the contest with vigour.

Adam Goodes - What a Champion

Almost single-handedly won them the game. Would have been fitting if he kicked the winning goal after the siren as he was clearly the best player on the park.

2 Brownlows, a flag and a model citizen. Could play another 5 years at this rate.

Wish we had someone of his calibre at our club. :thumbsu:

Re: Adam Goodes - What a Champion

Love the irony.

Well you said something nice about an opposition player, maybe you can start finding positives in your own club! Lol

Re: Dan Hannebury

Good on him.

But I'm with Kelvin, the amount of sucking up to other clubs and players on here has been revolting of late.

Surely this once feared football club is heading away from this patronizing state and back to the arrogance of old.

If sydney had won, this thread would not be here

Re: Dan Hannebury

Personally I wouldn't have made this thread myself, at least not on this board, but who cares?

This board has always included discussion of things relating to other clubs.

Just last week one of our most popular threads was about Nathan Fyfe.

If the thread doesn't warrant an individual thread - and it's a balance between common sense and the reception from you guys - it'll just be merged into a relevent one.

Re: Adam Goodes - What a Champion

Clearly BOG. Even with his misses in front of goal. His explosive pace is amazing, just amazing.

On a related note, does anyone know if Goodes has a case to answer at the tribunal for the Monfries incident? My initial reaction (I was at the game) was that he was in strife, didn't seem to make any effort to avoid the high contact, but seeing the incident now, did Monfries run into his path a bit? I'm really not sure what to think of it..
