Was surprised when Heath Shaw on the Footy Show last night said to Damien Barrett than he couldn't guarentee that he wouldn't do anything stupid like betting again. Surely you need to show some intent that you're going to do the right thing from now on.

Yes that's true but am still surprised that someone with all the advisors in the world at the Pies couldn't at least get the basics right and say concretely 'NO I WON"T EVER TO ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN'

Dale Thomas just made Josh Kennedy's "non out of bounds" decision look placid.

Literally ran it over the line (accidentally), held it out to the left (boundary) side, half heartedly juggled it back in, then literally threw it back in play and resumed.

Laughably bad, with the boundary umpire within 10 metres.

Pies certainly got the rub of the green. Absolutely appalling umpiring. Not that it made much difference.

What's disturbing for Freo is that was is essentially their reserves side put up a bigger fight against the Pies than something closer to their Best 22 did against North. But then most of them were underdone.

Ah, well, that's them out of contention, and the Pies have got the minor premiership. Now it's only North.

Nat Fyfe is quickly becoming my favourite non-Essendon player. I realise I'm not the first to say this, but just jumping on the bandwagon. Love the kid.

Who rates/doesn't rate Shannon Hurn?

Big kick, big body. Seems to be able to use it well to take big marks in position. Haven't watched him close enough to be really sure but I get the feeling he often plays the Maxwell or Fletcher role, leaving his direct opponent to take a mark or a spoil. But he seems quite good one on one too - kept Crameri quiet for a good period of the game (wasn't on him the whole time).

Rate him very highly. He's one of my favorites actually.

The next step is getting some consistency when he's tagged. AA when he does that.

Sydney are really in this one. I think Harry Taylor is gone for the game that is a big plus for the Sydney foward line which is already functioning well.

Mackie shits 'em whenever pressure is on. The Geelong crowd is also the most boring.
