Can’t believe the best forward of the current crop can’t take a contested mark. Honestly if Buddy had the courage to launch at the ball like Brown, Riewoldt or Carey he’d be in the GOAT conversation

Not sure if he's injured or the age just caught up with him.
Buddy has never been a good contested mark. Absolute freak superstar and awesome athlete, but he’s never been a good contested mark. He likes to beat his man on the lead or bring the ball to ground and swoop like a crumber- that’s brilliant in its own right.

Which means the end might come very quickly for Bud. He's 31 has 4 years to go on his contract. He has to stay fit because once he loses his athleticism he has nothing to fall back on.

So if he pulls the pin next year do the Swans lose their money and we all move on?

I'm not sure. There was uproar when the Swans signed him for 9 years and I have a feeling the AFL said at that time that if he retired early the money would have to remain in the salary cap until the contract expires, which is different to every other case.
