I hate watching how Hawthorn, Essendon, Carlton and nearly Richmond have gone across to Perth and performed. I just know wed go over and get pumped.
Was thinking the same thing.

Heard somewhere that Hardwick still hasn't beaten Lyon. He seems to be getting closer. Is Scott?

Richmond lose another close game to an opponent below their best. This is the same Richmond who were beaten pretty comfortably by Collingwood last week, and to date have beaten Carlton, St Kilda and the Dogs. There is a lot of water to go under the bridge this season.

The funniest part about the goal umpire getting hit by the ball was how he just carried on as though nothing had happened and then called 'rushed' once a Freo player took it over the line.

As somebody who has done some umpiring (field and goal), I know that it can be a shithouse gig and sometimes you simply end up in the 'wrong' position through no fault of your own.

Still funny when a pro gets hit flush in the nads and then pretends the ball never touched him, though.

I worry about you sometimes.
I cannot recall the last time we beat West Coast in a meaninful game over there.
I know we beat Freo a couple of times under Laidley but we always build ourselves up to only get our pants pulled down.
Our record interstate is horrible since Pagan left.

Tonights result isn't an example of Richmond being competitive. They lost another close game because they weren't good enough when it counted.

Hawthorn are at a different level to us and beat up on a depleted West Coast. Carlton are at our level but WC were badly understrengthed.

Essendon are Essendon. The legitimacy of their performances is unclear.

I know Richmond choke but they didnt get pumped tonight.
Hawthorn werent exactly at full strength either. The Carlton win was a big surprise to me as for the Bombers I tipped them to win because they are up and about this side of the year.
Maybe its the finals result fresh in my mind and I just dont have any confidence in us going over to Perth and getting a result UYI

I know it sucks, but the team is not the same as the final, and neither is WC. Lets not get down in the dumps before we get belted.

As he should of apparently.

I thought if it hit the goal ump it was counted as a poster but apparently (according to a plethora of posters) it's actually still a live ball until it fully crosses the line so he was right to wait for it to be rushed.

Surely you're taking the piss?

Has been super all year. Again.

Try tagging the bloke, he had 36 and 31 against the Dogs/Saints, with someone sitting on his ass. Out of Lids/Martin/Cotchin, he cops the most attention from a run-with role standpoint and at stoppages in general. He was obviously hindered by a sore knee or ankle tonight, but plugged away.

The only knock on him, with regards to those who anoint him as the next Gary Ablett, is the fact that he lacks the ability to hit the scoreboard. Adding to that his field kicking has been underwhelming and his set shot execution has also been poor for the best part of three years, if we compare him against the elite standard. Which I find quite strange tbh, because as Pykie would attest to, he was one of the best/purest users of the ball as a junior and throughout TAC Cup footy, and hit the scoreboard frequently.

I'd be looking at Deledio and Martin, whom in the past two weeks, have been gun shy and a little disappointing when the blowtorch has been applied against very good sides.

Agree. Essendon especially.

We barely give a yelp going over to WA (or hosting them elsewhere for that matter).

Maybe it'll change this season but I doubt it. And with the travel cross-continent and timezone difference it gives supporters (and some at the club) a readymade excuse.

It's depressing watching this.

I swear we had the makings of a good side for the 00s. Had we kept patient, drafted well rather than topping up with hacks and kept some form of contested footy at our core.. who knows.

You watch this clip and you had Boomer, Choppy, Teague, CJ, Turtle, Arch, Simpson, Jess, Grant, Petrie etc all of whom did or could've gone another 5 years+ with the motivation of being in a successful side.

And you had Wells yet to come on board.
