Can't say I was watching the match, but if it's true that they effectively had no bench due to injuries and asked for the game to be called off..

As much as I hate to support the tigers, in this instance I would. Realistically a team should be able to forfeit a match, any team, especially if they are getting decimated by injuries and it's a ******* practise match of all things.

If I accurately described the scenario, and the AFL said no to calling off the match, then I hope the media, clubs and fans give them hell.
Understand where you're coming from. But the AFL has broadcast agreements and sponsorship deals they have to fulfil and there's no way Richmond would have paid the AFL the lost revenue from those agreements.

It's not the AFLs fault Richmond treated it like a final and went all out.

This is why I think all teams should have an injury sub or two. And if the sub is used the player subbed out can't play for Min 2 weeks

Can you be more blunt in your responses in the future?
I agree with him though, Gaso. Giving such a valuable prize would change the 'practice' nature of pre-season by just too much.

Richmond should have just walked at 3/4 time. I wouldn't have wanted us to go on in those circumstances in a practice match.

And guys, it's way too early to be writing Richmond off. Every team is going to get injuries throughout the year, and this is the best time to get them.

We're just counteracting the media jerk off ahead of time.

And it's fun because it's Richmond and hanging shit on Richmond is what we're all here for.

Scott should've put that in his article the other day. Winning a flag comes a close second to long term success and third most important thing is laughing at Richmond.

It's also not the AFL's fault that one of the Tigers' players decided to attempt a tackle by headbutting an opponent in the hip. Out cold. Moron.

It reminded me of this:

fairfax media reporting Dustys ol man might be deported,

The father of Richmond star Dustin Martin reportedly faces deportation over his alleged links to outlaw motorcycle gang, the Rebels.

Shane Martin was in Sydney when he was locked up on Thursday morning, according to News Ltd reports.

It has been reported that his residency visa was cancelled because officials decided he did not meet minimum character requirements.

Dustin Martin was born in Victoria but Shane is a citizen of New Zealand.

It is alleged Shane is a high-ranking member of the gang.

Just watched it. He looks like a ******* idiot to be honest. Couldn't have found a more direct way to give himself a concussion.

Hope they seize his assets and put him on the next plane to NZ. Dusty would probably go too. He'd be well suited to playing for the Auckland Warriors, although he'd need to do some more work on his tatts

Don't agree at all with that.. it's just a praccy game. Should allow for six-seven on the bench surely? Does it really matter if you rotate (players) more to stay under the cap of 90?

They chose to pull their stars off… to whinge about playing with 15 / claims of calling game off is silly / allowing for public ridicule.

If they lose to the Bluebaggers in the season opener.. this episode of panic stations will be justified. Still find it amusing that Greg Miller's round 1 selection #8 of Ty Vickory is still running around.. :D:p Greg was helping North even in the opposition camp. NEXT pick North scooped up the next club captain in waiting.

I'm talking regular season. Because with the Interchange cap and no sub an early injury is going to **** teams harder than peter north.

We all should be still playing for something. ..winner of pre season gets Round 1 draft pick...runner up Round 2.
Why not offer premiership points to the winner and the runner up? Shouldn't that be enough of an incentive? Being a win or two ahead of everyone else prior to the season would be a massive advantage to those two teams.

I don't understand this push to make practice matches worth more than just the 'practice' that is gained from them.

Teams get premiership points from succeeding in the real season - why should you be given any advantage for winning practice games?

After Ross Lyon declared him the best footballer in the Afl in about 2010/11 Dale Thomas is now embarrassing to watch. Can not kick ,drops marks and looks terrible in a bottom team
Thoughts ?
