Taunting the Carlton fans by doing an Indigenous dance and throwing an imaginary spear, during Indigenous round.

People are saying the Goodes is precious, yet thousands get outraged and offended by that.
I don't think the majority of the public are outraged by his gestures in anyway. Nor should they be IMO. He is
more then free to celebrate how he wishes (within AFL guidelines of acceptability)
But, and it's a big BUT , if Goodes or any player choose to celebrate In a certain way then they need own the backlash it creates.

It's a pathetic straw to draw the racism card.

If you're in the public eye, your actions have greater then usual consequences.

Why would an Indigenous war dance create a backlash?

Some would interpret it as a flog act, not a war dance. Rightly or wrongly.
I was meh about it.

Further to that , there is context.
Was it provocative, inappropriate or relevant.
Countless players before him have been warned for their onfield antics and inciting.

I find it odd that he didn't get a talking to by the AFL.

That's latent racism in itself.

I don't have a problem with him doing a war dance.

I do think he could have dealt with his public persona in a more constructive way at the time.

Context?

It was in indigenous round, what more context do you need?

Why would the AFL give him a talking to for doing an Indigenous dance in Indigenous round and then to say that is latent racism is just utter crap.

You are clutching at straws.

Wasn't it indigenous round? Hard to see how anyone would get offended by an obvious cultural action unless they were looking for offense.

Another virtue signalling exercise.

People (well, the paying ones anyway) don't go to an "indigenous round" because of any cultural crap, they go to watch football.

How many other indigenous players preformed an indigenous celebration during indigenous round

I'd like to know if this was an indigenous celebration or an Adam Goodes act?

I didn't realise ANZAC day went 5 days.

The crap goes for as long as they can milk it.

You're not going to trap me with this stuff Spider.

It's ALL corporate motivated rubbish.

Which goes back to my original point.

I hear alot of bitching and moaning about bloody AFL and their social politics when it's Indigenous round or Multicultural round. ANZAC round, not so much. Funny that.

Perhaps that is your experience. I'm glad you find it humorous.

Ha, yeah. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't having a dig at ANZAC day, was just highlighting the hypocrisy of those bemoaning AFL social justice campaigns on issues that do not align with them but don't comment on those that align with good old Aussie values.

It is a good list of AFL stuff ups tough.

Enclosing the Goodes issue in a purely AFL context is somewhat disingenuous because he appears to be making it his life's work.
