Some of the worst umpiring, hope that isn't a sign of thing's to come later.

Even if injured late, very ordinary game by Hardeman, and i like him.

If you told me Bailey Scott didn't play i would almost believe it, i can hardly remember seeing him at all.

Good to see multiple goal's for Tarrant, George, and Bam Bam.

Thought RHJ's game was decent.
RJH off the backline is so neat. Even dropped back in the hole and took some intercepts a couple of times today too.

I’ll be shocked if Bamert isn’t picked up in the MSD - hope it’s with us. Tarrant wouldn’t shock either!

Thought Spargo and Konstanty were excellent up forward. If only Konstanty could dispose of the footy like that in the 1s.

Dawson was huge, Goad was pretty good too but on that viewing Dawson ahead as a ruck option.

Really encouraging for George, like BGZ just needs to do it for longer and we will have a real player.

Liked Fisher and Harvey’s games too.

George - incredible first quarter, zero impact after that. Bit of a shame he couldn’t continue with his impact because in the first quarter he showed why he is still highly rated internally.

Scott - Minimal impact, not much run and carry. So disappointing for a player of his AFL experience.

Fisher - Poor first half, much better in the 2nd. Kicked a nice long goal, and provided some good decision making and composure to slow the game down to halt Carlton’s momentum.

Hansen Jnr - Good link up play, provided some drive off half back but lacked a bit of physicality and accountability. Ball use was pretty good but did have a couple of howler turnovers.

Konstanty - kicked 2 in two minutes in the third, stayed involved across all four quarters. Pressure was good, and worked up the ground to provide an option.

Spargo - probably our best listed player, kicking was a real feature. Worked up the ground well, linked up and was the best disposer inside forward 50. Got on the end of a couple too. Carrying some extra kilo’s but showed plenty today.

Dawson - split time between defence and ruck. Competed well in the ruck against the bigger bodies in Reidy and O’Keefe. Follow up work around the ground was good laying some Xerri-esque tackles.

Harvey - bit vanilla, few disposals but ultimately not that much impact. Should be having more impact at this stage of his career.

Hardeman - disappointing. Just couldn’t get near it and didn’t look confident in his body. Provided zero run and carry. Took a big knock to his right leg in the last quarter. Considering his impressive pre season he looks short of a gallop.

Mikunda - like what I see. Competes, keeps his feet and isn’t afraid to take on the tackler. Looks really balanced with his disposal and makes the right decisions more often than not.

Goad - looked out of sorts in the first half but worked into the game. Hate how he engages first in the ruck contests, should be using his athleticism to his advantage a bit more rather than getting into wrestling matches.

Whitlock - little to no impact. Disappointing but he was up against an experienced player in Hayes. Needs to find a way to stay involved.

Non listed players James Tarrant and Xav Bamert were excellent. Tarrant worked hard to provide an option and took some strongcontested marks.

Bamert was physical tough and showed plenty up the ground and forward of centre. Couple of nice contested marks and has some real power and physical presence in his game. A real competitor and should be high on the list for a potential MSD prospect.

Plenty of guys pushing today. It's been a good hit out.

Makes me more confident about the main game. Carlton's game plan is pants. Our forward handball will slice them up.
Really? Whitlock, Goad way off.
We don’t need Dawson evolving into a ruckman.
Hardeman struggling.
George won’t get a game by playing a 4 goal quarter and then being unsighted for 3.

Only positive for me is that the Spargo recruitment might not be a total disaster after all.

Based on today who do you think would be a better option at AFL level, George or Bamert?

I thought Spargo played a very tidy game. Dawson played angry and provided a physical presence around the ground, looked like he was really putting his hand up to come in next week until he copped a corky. If George can find a way to impact for 4 quarters look out. Nice game from Konstanty with a couple of goals, gee is it possible he just feels the pressure at AFL level a bit too much? Bamert, looks AFL quality, if he continues and improves on what he showed today I dunno if he'll be on the board come our MSD pick (assuming we have one), might need to do a Hawks/Newcombe style deal. Goad worked into the game but really out muscled by Reidy whereas I thought Dawson held his own on that front.

Bamert. He has no worries staying involved and can play all over the ground.

As a junior he predominantly played in the midfield but has adapted well to a half forward role as a recently turned 19 year old.

Whitlock injured?

Or just couldn’t get near it?
Had 2(?) marks taken off him directly in front by shit ump calls. One of those games where he opened up the forward line with how he played but didn't get any of it himself.

Was super impressed by Tarrant. Could we dream of another Tarrant on the list?

That 4th quarter was puke though.

Any injuries from the VFL game? Stevens late out but how did Hardeman, Goad, Dawson go?
Hardeman had a leg injury, but appeared to come back on. Dawson got a corkie high on the rear thigh/hammie.

Hardeman was quiet. Had a moment late where he looked like he hurt his lower leg, but got back on the field.

Goad was well beaten in the ruck, but did some ok things around the ground. Still some way off AFl level.

Dawson was not influential down back, but his work in the ruck in the second quarter I think really got us going. Of all the AF listed players I was most impressed with him.
