Every footy fan is a genius in hindsight - we all know that, especially on big footy. We've all heard it before with the wide ranging claims, glorious predictions as well as doomsday outlooks.
With yet another draft rolling around, it has prompted many a prediction of future guns, who we are going to draft as well as looking at other's phantom drafts. It is always amusing looking back on previous draft threads, with wide sweeping claims stated as fact.
I propose this acting as a time capsule if you will, where we can look back after the fact at some of the more hilarious or as the case may be on the money comments. Feel free to paste comments from old threads from years gone by. If nothing else, it shows us how unpredictable our game is and that the possibilities are endless each season. Being freo fans, we've clung to that for 22 years now!
Predictions can be for the up-coming season or whatever period of time you choose. The only catch is it must be AFL related. I've seen posts saying player x will fail to reach 50 games or that club x will fold in a matter of years or a first year player will win the rising star and then fade into mediocrity - these are the types of comments that will be really interesting to revisit. Whether they be controversial or not, let us know what you think will happen.
My predictions are as follows:
- Tim English will be selected with Fremantle's first selection this year
- Ross Lyon will serve out his contract and knock back an extension
- We will break the record for most indigenous players in the one side this year
- Fremantle will finish 8th in 2017
- Shane Kersten will line up at Full Forward in round 1 2017
- Cam McCarthy will kick 42 goals next year.
- David Mundy will remain captain in 2017.
- GWS will be sanctioned from the Lauchie Whitfield episode by being penalised future draft selections.
