Not sure where to plonk this little whine, so here it goes.

Over the years I've despatched 6 emails to the club. Two to Stephen Wells after which I got a swift response and appreciation. One Kevin Diggerson, following which I received a swift response with the information requested.

Then there were 3 to our CEO. 2 to Brian Cook and, more recently, 1 to Steve Hocking. Not even an acknowledgment from any. None were critical and the last 1 to Hocking was a suggestion and praise. Included was the intention of our family to donate as a means of appreciation for the pleasure the club has given us. That is highly unlikely to occur now.

What is it with our CEOs Too important to deal with the supporter base?
Interesting- each time an email is sent to SWells, I too get a swift positive reply- he is always available, appreciative, and friendly.

I don't know where to post this but I'm after some help.

My little cousin was killed in a house fire in Lara before Christmas and luckily enough his brother managed to escape.

I mentioned we spoke to Shannon Neale after a game this year. Does anyone know how to get in contact with the club so I can get in touch with Shannon?

Oh my God that's awful. Hope the family and yourself are coping with it ok

Didnt know where to post this - so i posted it here - and i havent pinched it from anywhere else on this forum - i simply heard it on the car radio today - thats my source

But the late and great Benny Hill - if he was still with us - then it would be his 99th Birthday today

Thought it was worth a mention - that guy used to have me crying with laughter - im not kidding

There is nothing wrong with looking at history. A fair number of posts on this site refer to players and games going way back.

I haven’t got the book yet, but if you just look at the VFL era, those flags are important as they were won by teams playing in the best league in Australia. I agree that strictly, the AFL is a totally different competition to the VFL, but it also awards flags to the teams playing in the best competition in Australia.

Before the VFL broke away in 1897, there was only the VFA. It also awarded flags to the best team in the best competition in Australia, or more accurately, the colonies.

Applying the test of the best team, in the best competition in Australia, then all flags should be counted, and if not, the Afl should be treated separately.

Where I would disagree with Carter is that he counts the flags from 1870, but the VFA only formed in 1877. Before then, the clubs arranged the matches, and there was no overriding organisation.

There was a long running bitter dispute between the VFA and the VFL, but this is no reason now for the AFL/VFL to simply ignore the pre-1897 teams and players.

In the decades, after the split in 1897, the public and the clubs counted the premierships before 1897. They did not ignore what was then recent history.

I have keenly read Mick McGuane's assessment of the Defences, Forward lines and Midfields in the league coming into season 2023. For those who haven't read it in the HUN, he ranks our Defence and Forward Lines No.1, and our midfield No.6.

Unsurprisingly, readers are invited to say whether they agree with McGuane, and the 'Reader's Rankings' are also published. Readers ranked Geelong's Forward Line No.13 in the league!!!

Question - I thought Simon Lloyd was leaving to go to North Melbourne, has that changed?

I see him in every meeting still and pre-season is nearly over.

He didn't get the gig at North - Jennifer Watt was appointed North CEO

We were obviously supportive of him looking to progress his career, while still being happy to retain his services if things didn't work out

Disappointing for him. He is very capable and talented.
Not sure he'd be all that disappointed right now. The way the coach of that club continues to conduct himself must surely make for plenty of sleepless nights for club officials along the way. Would you really want the inevitable headaches?

Yeah true, there are clubs you wouldn’t want to get a promotion into.

Watching the 2022 seasons docus, it was interesting to hear Coach Kelly's name mentioned more than once. Looks to be highly respected. I like him because there is no flash about him, just honest, hard working and with good sense.
Could he be in line to take CS's job when he decides to call it?
