Ronda had a great working relationship with the UFC at the time though and the UFC figured Ronda going there and looking good would only help them. Sending Conor in to a boxing ring with the best P4P fighter of the last decade where they don't have a say in the outcome and likely makes Conor look amateur makes no sense.

They allowed him to fight Nate Diaz though.

*troll face*

The UFC makes it's own rules as it goes along. So making an exception for Conor here could be a possibility.

If there was ever a fight in boxing that could be financially lucrative to the UFC, it is this one! It could potentially do PPV numbers of UFC200 and 205 combined.

As much of a sideshow it seems, having arguably the most popular UFC fighter against one of the best P4P boxers of all time who both happen to fight at around the same weight with no immediate fights on the horizon, is a pretty fortunate set of circumstances that can make this actually a reality.

Mayweather don't need it Connor is like a itty bitty fish. He could fight someone off the street and sell more than Connor. I hate the guy more than Connor but that's the reality of it. Saying that this report has still not gone away

Nothing to do about selling PPVs at all, just keeping his name in the general public domain. If Conor is dropping his name out there in a positive sense and Mayweather doesn't have to pay a cent, of course he's going to talk bullshit and play along.

Mayweather is also now a promoter and has said that he would like to represent some MMA/UFC fighters in the future. Having his name in the discussion with UFC elite is not a bad thing if his objective is to do what he says and get involved with the sport at some level. Not saying that Mayweather needs McGregor, but from a promoters viewpoint, it certainly doesn't hurt.

Luke Thomas talked about this on his Live Chat podcast and summed it up well. Conor is in a contract with the UFC so all his talk about fighting Mayweather is publicity. Unless the UFC co promotes a fight, it ain't happening. Just some big egos with big mouths trying to play a game.

my god this thing is not going away, remember all the talk of a roy jones JR v Silva fight but you knew it was all smoke. this one is not going away and this day and age who knows. I still dont think dana and co would be able to come to terms with Floyd if Connor was a free agent or was fighting under Bellator id say its a done deal.

I hope it doesnt happen its bad news for Connor I think he will look silly in the ring, then he prob give up the 145 title his mouth will only get him so far. this could be the beginning of the end

I'm starting to think it's a chance as well...
Both of them love money and this is a big pay day. McGregor could ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after this fight win, lose or draw. He has always said he doesn't want to stay in the fight game for long.

problem is its not just a split between connor and floyd you got ufc taking a slice as well. last I herd floyd was looking at 100 mil for him and 10 for connor and party

Apparently talks with Nate didn't go well. I'm bored with it now just pick a div and fight or retire
Aldo v Edgar should be for the legit belt. I guess in our own minds we can just call it legit anyway, as Conor is nowhere to be seen in the division atm.

I hope the Diaz v Conor fight happens on 202.

Rematch should be 50-50 split of paycheck.

Diaz holds the cards here. McGregor is the one desperate for the rematch.

Is he?

All he had to do was the press conference and the fight was made. Conor wants nothing of the rematch imo

The only reason the rematch was put together was because Conor begged for it.

Things have changed since their scheduled UFC200 fight fell over.

Financially they could have skewed the dollars Conor's way a lot easier the first time.

To now reschedule the fight due 100% to Conor opting out of the promo Diaz showed he was willing to do based off attending the Vegas press conference, any renogiations to stage the fight now rely greater on Diaz agreeing to terms.

He agreed to the rematch begrudgingly the first time. So a 50/50 split is the minimum Diaz should be looking for this time around. If they just said "ok, same terms and UFC202 it is", that would be pretty silly.

I agree... never said anything to the contrary.
