So it's expected to be formally announced next week that McGregor v Diaz II will officially be the headline for UFC 200.

I don't know about you guys but this doesn't particularly interest me anywhere near the headlining fight for UFC 200 should.

Not only does it make NO sense in the grand scheme of anybody's title contender-ship in any division.. It's likely to take the be the finishing blow to Connor's aura of invincibility if he's seen to go down the path already walked in playing into Diaz's strengths and having a mid-paced shootout on the feet with Nate.

I dunno, I just expected more from the UFC to give us a rehashed footnote of a fight, rather than a dream matchup of some sort.

Agree, what does this fight do? It doesnt mean anything for belts, it's literally just personality vs personality. That may carry a normal card, but UFC 200? And especially after its already just happened? Who cares? Stupid move by the UFC if true.

Could be UFC's way of a lubricant to get Conor back into contention for the Light or Welterweight belt? Worse case scenario he looses again......he still holds the Featherweight belt.

Don't agree with it, but I'll watch anyways.

If the fight is at 155 it has some utility. If its at 170, i think its silly by McGregor and the UFC to go down this path. McGregor cant succeed at 170 until he does so at 155 surely..

I don't think the fight makes sense but I'd be lying if I said I want looking forward to the shit talk before the fight after Nate just "whooped" Conor.

Conor wanting the fight at 170 is the only reason it's happening at that weight and at all.

he wants to run it back and there to be no * next to it. no "oh but Nate beat you at 170 tho". same situation plus Nate gets a full camp.

I'm a Conor fan, and have been since his first fight in the ufc (mainly because we have the same last name at the start lol) but you have to admire his belief in himself.

I'm sure all the current UFC champions would feel quite disrespected if this is the headliner at UFC200.

From a practical perspective, you think there would be two five round fights on the night, which you would assume would be both title fights.

Having a non-title fight as the main event seems pretty ridiculous given the magnitude of the event.

It's like the MMA equivalent of Wrestlemania.

It makes no sense what's so ever but that not what's at risk here another loss and this golden goose is well and truly cooked
Definitely in terms of like - biggest draw in mma goes - another loss ruins it, no matter what weight.

Fact of the matter is, he'll eat any one alive at 145, disregard those who sag Edgar or Aldo have a chance, so if the UFC want McGregor the no.1 draw in the world to come back, they'll send him back to 145 for at least one fight if not two.

Well, the main event of Wrestlemania may well end up being the bosses son vs. a guy who shows up a couple of times a year...

I still don't think he is safe at 145 yes he has power frankie and Jose still are massive threats. I believe he can be a future 155 champ but I think it would take time and it's not going to be fighting the top 5 guys.

Because of the draw he is they are going to match him against the top guys.

Yep agree with everyone here. Really not a fan of this match up and if Conor loses it'll be hard to come back from this to get that aura around him again.

Go take on Edgar and beat him then 145 is truly destroyed and go chase 155 it's the only thing that makes sense to me

Shows the courage of the guy, willing to risk the lot to prove he is the better fighter

Nate's come out and said he's after a shot at the LW title.

Doesn't really care for the rematch with Conor, though he'll do it 'if it's what the fans want'.

And then he's come out and kinda said the opposite of this.

I don't really know what goes on in that head.

Watching all these interviews of Nate Diaz after the McGregor fight you notice all the interviewers sound a touch condescending towards him asking him how he has spent the money.

They are secretly hoping he says I bought a beamer or something, but he keeps it so humble and sounds very down Earth. He doesn't brag about the money.

Treating Diaz like he won the lottery seems disrespectful of his skillset. The win wasn't a fluke and the money is well deserved.

Well deserved $$

I get the feeling that most fighters have probably been well under paid up to this point. Correct me if I'm wrong.

yeah and no for what they do yes at entry level it is very poor doesnt even cover cost. nate has done ok not connor money but decent plus having the most performance bonus's prob helped. has not been supper active the last few years. That was his first PPV as main event, had a title fight against Henderson but was on fox

That's the appeal of Nate though. Would be funny seeing him as a part time analyst after his career is done, buckleys chance he'll reign in the profanity though :D
