Watching Greg Phillips HoF stuff got me thinking who wore 22 after he went to Collingwood at end of 1982. Greg wore 20 when he came back for 1987 season. From some old budgets I found

1985 David Harvey (played 1984-88)
1987 Greg Boyd (played 1979-82, 1985-90)
1994 Tony Malakellis (played 1994-98)

It would be interesting to find out the history of all the club's jumper numbers, eg when I first started going to the footy way back in the dim darks, Fos wore no 1, Tommy Williams no 2, Ted Whelan no 8, Dave Boyd no 11, Tom `Judy' Garland no 18, etc, etc.

You would think that info has to be available somewhere.

The number history can be quite complex in some cases. For example, Peter Obst wore 14, 25, 19 and 28.

#14 was worn by Ron Leaver, Peter Obst, Robert Fabian and John Cahill between 1951 and 1965.

#9 was worn by Ian Hannaford, Bob Marrett,Richie Bray, Graham Virgo and Richie Bray again from 1957-65.

You may be right Ford but I thought no 9 was worn by Ian's younger brother Don Hannaford, and Ian wore no 10.

You're probably right, but 9 still went through a number of players in a short time.
