Seasons still a fair way off but...planning on going to the col vs ess anzac day game, would be the first time going to the MCG. Always looks close to a sell out on TV so just wondering if you have to try and get tickets a few weeks in advance to that game or?

Has something changed for me to continually get adds across the bottom of my BF??

At least I know it is not something I did:) Must say though, a tad annoying

Get AdBlock if you have Firefox, would be something similar for Chrome and maybe IE. It slows down page loading speed, but not considerably and removes the ads.

Is there a particular reason why Gabba pre-season games are no longer an option except in circumstances like possibly hosting the final? The last time we played pre-season games there was back in 2002 where we managed to have two. I'm assuming that it has something to do with scheduling issues with the cricket but I wondered if there was a concrete decision made at one point about it.

Yep, it's the cricket - same reason they don't play at the MCG (and presumably SA clubs won't be able to use the Adelaide Oval when they move there). The contracts between the stadiums and the various state cricket associations require the grounds to be available for the Shield final if the club has a chance of making it which roughly overlaps with the end of the pre-season.

Yeah, I do understand the Shield final scheduling issue. I guess I was talking more about the general principle of playing preseason games played during the cricket season. For instance in 2002 I think we played two games in a three week period with no shield games in between. And then they played a shield game at home after that. But now I couldn't see them playing any games during the cricket season at all and I'm just wondering about that change in thinking.

Just further to the discussion above, re the ads on the bottom of page..

..have noticed that when these ads do appear, the page locks up momentarily, and I have to wait about 10-20 seconds for it to unlock again.

damn nuisance.

A question for the Melbournites here:

I've managed to talk my way out of working over the Easter weekend, and will now be going to Melbourne! Round 1 we take on Bulldogs at Etihad, and I'm pumped to be going there.

A couple of quick questions:
- should I try to buy tickets before hand or is it easier to just turn up at the gate? Crowd of 2 only.
- I like sitting on a higher tier to see all the action, preferably on the wing but not fussed. Which sections should I be asking for when buying tickets?

Cheers guys

Well it's the Bulldogs so you'll have no trouble getting a ticket if you turn up at the gate and unless they've changed it since last season, if you get a GA ticket you can go top tier. Was $20-odd last year for Adults.

Keep your eye on eBay for medallion club tickets(tier 2 on wing).

I got 4 for $66 plus 2 car passes for last Saturday night.Admittedly that was a steal but I have got them a few other times in season proper for less or only a couple of dollars more than general admission. There are normally quite a few lots to choose from, some auctions and some buy-it-now.Well worth it for those seats and facilities.
