Anyway, for my question.

What the heck is the rule for the long term injury replacements.

I am pretty sure they have to be on it for 8 weeks. Now Leuy has gone down, can we elevate anyone (JT for instnace:D) seeing as though there is only sven weeks left in the H & A season?

Have checked everywhere but can not find the actual rules of the AFL, not the game, but the league.

Help please:confused:

I don't know the exact answer, but I remember hearing last year that Jamison was elevated onto the senior list between round 17 and 18 last year (Aug 1st).

Grim, you are a legend:thumbsu: Thanks for that.

Pretty sure there is a time limit, but it must include the finals which would give us the all clear to elevate my man, JT:thumbsu:

This issue was discussed in the Will Hammill thread. There was a bit of uncertainty but it may shed some light.

I reckon you meant SPIRIT.

Not the best post I have read.

I'm 90% sure he meant "split", in which case my best guess is the Fitzroy supporters of the Lions top out around the 10,000 mark (members and associates) while the Brisbane supporters have pretty much all of Qld to play in. Hence why the Lions often get a very high placing on those "most supported AFL teams" lists.

Could someone please help restore peace and harmony in my house!

Watching the footy, my husband says when the ball goes out, the term is "out of BOUNCE"

I say it is "out of BOUNDS"

Over to you experts.....which is it?

Roughly, we have to win one more game than the Saints while winning at least the same number of games as Richmond.

The other ways involve us winning both our games while Collingwood or Sydney win neither.

Certainly not as complicated as the Bears 1995 side:D

The contenders:

Sydney 46 points 102%- Collingwood (TD) & US (SGC)

Collingwood 44 points 111%- Swans (TD) & Freo (Subi)

St Kilda 44 points 102%- Adelaide (TD) & Essendon (TD)
_________________________________________________
Us 40 points 101%- Carlton (G) & Swans (SCG)

Richmond 38 points 93%- Freo (MCG) & Melbourne (MCG)

Now simply, if the Swans win one game, they are in.

If Collingwood win one game, they are in, their percentage is too large for us to make up, even if we win both games.

If St Kilda win both games, they are in. If they win one, and we win two, then it will come down to percentage which would be very, very cose. (Those complaining about us not kicking some of those teams when we had them down would have a field day)

Richmond - miracles needed. They have to win both (highly possible, even probable, but they are the Tigers:D) But then, if StKilda & Collingwood win only one game, they cant make it. If we win both as well as them, they will still be behind us.

Now for the Lions. Winning both makes it probable that we will be in the finals. If we win both, and St Kilda lose one game or Sydney lose both, then we will make it.

For a perfect Lions set up for round 22, we would love Adelaide to roll the Saints this weekend. Freo to cause the boilover against the Tigers (Maybe Grim can muster some of that traditional Freo spirit for us:D) And the grand daddy of the all, Collingwood defeat Sydney.

That would leave us in 8th heading into round 22, with Sydney 2 points ahead of us, meaning we will play them to guarantee our spot in the 8.

In all reality though, the Pies is the only game that counts. They win, we win, then regardless of other results, round 22 becomes week one of an extended finals campaign for us.:thumbsu:

Here's a few, not necessarily Lions related numpty's from the 2008 season and beyond that are more the musings of a non-sensical, perhaps bored, mind.

1. Channel 10's lions television coverage this year - Why did Motorola change their add from '07? I, for one, was perfectly happy with the add where the hot chick punches the overweight Richmond fan in the nuts (cause he was texting via huge placards). Every time we or the opposition scored, I could still laugh, no matter how many times I saw it.

Instead, in 2008 that's all gone, and we've got 2 wannabe matrix cast members on a subway playing ninja stars with their mobile phones - they're PHONES ya clowns! - why would anyone want a phone that apparently slices through your pants when you put it in your pocket?? Motorala won't be getting another red cent out of me until we see more Tig's fans getting nailed in the crotch.

2. I was hoping at some point that an umpire would start wearing white again. What's the story? The fluro coloured thing, I thought when it first started years ago, was a night time invention for TV - then during the day, they starting wearing neon green and yellow, or worse, red. WTF???? Where's the white umpire's gear? Too hard to wash? The kiddies at the ground don't get it when I call out 'white maggot' from the stands anymore - seriously, they don't. Won't someone think of the children?

3. I've been following this code since I played for the Mayne under 12's (Go Tig's!!!!) . Saying that I love this game would be a gross understatement. But watching an NFL game today, something struck me. Why don't we have cheerleeders?

No seriously, why don't we?

What was the question again? Oh that's right, why?

:D

I don't think it had anything to do with night games, it was a jumper clash issue.

I too have a numpty question - they changed the rules so that players could kick in straight away from a behind, but every now and then the umpires will call it back. Why?

I think it is because they still need to signal/get the all clear. They just don't have to wait for the flags, etc. I may be wrong though.

I'm really proud of that fact that the AFL don't degrade or insult women by having cheerleaders i.e. women dressed like cheap tarts with fake boobs, fake tans, fake hair and little clothing to 'entertain' the men in the crowd. I appreciate the family friendly atmosphere of AFL games and the fact that we are there to watch a game of footy not a floor show. That's MHO.

What about the Brisbane Bearettes?!?!

I'll second that. They're taking away the best taunt in the game. Maybe that's why? **** them, they're lucky we have that term. It saves them from copping far worse on a fairly regular basis.

p.s. Cheerleaders are cheesy, and at cowboys home games they play music 5mins into gametime. I didn't expect this and missed kickoff a few weeks back. The atmosphere as the contest got under way was like people were at a picnic. Completely dodgy.
The NRL are a rabble looking for answers to their own massive set of problems (the main one being the w***ers that have always controlled the game from nth sydney). Looking to them for guidance would be like asking OJ Simpson for pointers on controlling yourself.

Seemed the right place for this..........

Did anyone hear what Akermanis said on "Before the Game" regarding Voss and Leppitsch? In referrring to what he considers to be the difficulty Voss will have coaching, he said something about Leppitsch being the dominant force in their relationship.

We don't play that kind of music around here brother

Take it back to the main board for the Voss haters to feast on

Probably not the best place for this question. This thread is for those "I always wondered why...." type questions, rather than contentious type issues.

I suspect that you won't get an answer on this board to that question as: (a) I don't think anyone knows and (b) even his most fervent admirers know that you need to take Aker's comments with a grain of salt.

Ok, point taken.
BTW. it wasn't asked by a Voss hater.
