Speaking of what's BF's thoughts on this, have I got a right to be pissed off.

So basically I work for a company that owns two brands. We have some people who work for one brand, some the other and some shared services (finance managers, operations team & HR). I'm the finance analyst for one brand. We had a day out at a winery planned months ago for the brand managers final day and a new team get together (the one I work for).

Initially anyone shared service or aligned to that brand were invited. Then an email this week came out from the HR lady who organised it saying it's got out of hand numbers wise and the 5 of us on the email are no longer invited as we; a) are a shared service and/or b) haven't worked with the brand manager for more than a year. All teams that are classified a shared service must reduce the number of people (so most areas went from 4 going to 2) going except for HR which is a team of 1 and she still goes.

The 5 people kicked off; finance manager (shared service), operations manager (shared service), NPD manager (shared service), stock control chick (shared service), finance analyst (works for the brand going).

Initially I didn't mind that much but next day or two and the day they went I was pretty pissed off. Completely disengaged and will no longer go above and beyond until someone offers some sort of apology or explanation because in my mind it's clear as day that I should have gone.
Did you get the day off or in lieu?

Yeah that's garbage. HR is such a bullshit role too. Earn decent money for telling adults to behave like adults.

I am not in a good headspace at work at the moment. Gonna stick it out (don't have an option), but some of the crap that goes on is ridiculous.

The other guy going for the same role as me is always whispering stuff with the 2IC. Wtf is that shit.
Just ignore it.

Nah just had to work it. Everyone else was out and I was there with just people from other brand. Silver lining I got to catch up / get ahead of where I want to be work wise. But a day out at a winery on Waiheke paid for by work beats that

I'd be more upset that you didn't get the day off tbh. Adding insult to injury.

With workload how it is at the moment that was never going to be an option. And tbh if it was offered I'd probably decline it
Sounds like you are more loyal to them than they are to you. Not uncommon. Or your boss told HR that you couldn't go due to workload and got HR to deliver the news to you. HR generally are shithouse communicators.

Even though it sucks, I don't think the company has done anything wrong there JD. Apart from piss you off but every company will find a way of doing that eventually.

How? Reducing the numbers if critical I don't mind. Just some consistency with who they cut. Cut the non brand people first, which they did with 4/5 of the people. They just chose not to cut the 1 HR person and send me.

Karma will get them next year anyway. Was planning on leaving next year to return to Melbourne but had thought about at least delaying it til after a key project I'm on finishes now I've got no qualms leaving midway through at all

Have you guys all done your tax returns? Any of you guys good with tax?

Oct 31st is when you are supposed to do it by. Went to lodge my tax return tonight and this was my story.

Logged onto etax as that is the website ive used for years. Get to the end and my tax return is however much. Great. I go to finish it off and click accept and all that and read the fine print and their is two charges which equate to nearly 100 bucks.

I was like, what the ****, this is supposed to be a government service and the tax return quoted should be what I get back. It shouldnt be a 100 dollar charge. So I dont go through with it and do a little research.

Turns out the official government tax website is now called MyTax and it's done through the MyGov website.

Im like.. ahh ok. So ill just jump on there and do it and not lose the 100 bucks.

Turns out some sneaky ****s immediately took the etax web address after the government stopped using it. Everybody was used to doing it online with etax and they were a personal company so charged you for using their services. SNEAKY ****S.

Anyways dont know if you guys use MyGov website but you have to link stuff to your MyGov account.

So I click on services and notice that the ATO is already linked in my account. I dont remember linking it though at all.

Anyways im like ok. So click on that and start to do my tax return. First it asks me to confirm my details. Everything looks right except my postal address is different from my residential and it's some bizarre address in NSW? I live in WA.

So I edit that and make it my real home address.

Move on to the next next bit and it asks me to confirm my bank account details. But the BSB and account No are not my details and the bank name is NAB in NSW. Im with Bankwest and am in WA???

So im like what the **** is going on. This is all dodgy. So I get out of that and then unlink the ATO to my MyGov account. Then decide to re-link and start again.

I try to re-link it says error every time I try to put my bank details in because it says it is not the same bank details the ATO has on my records.

This is all ******.

So i logged out of everything and am now gonna call them tomorrow to speak to a real human and ask why the ATO has some weird postal address and some weird eastern states bank account linked to my details.

My mate had an issue where he was applying for jobs at the time and someone called him saying he got the job and wanted his details. So he gave them address etc.

The government then called him saying someone had used his details to lodge a tax return and had been doing it to many others and he had to go in and present his case that it wasn't him.

Wonder if it's a similar thing jod23

Hmm.... well I will definitely be calling them tomorrow and speaking to a human. I will make sure that the ATO has my details and only mine and that I have not done my tax return yet.

Right now it doesnt look like anything can happen with my bank or my money. It just looks like somehow my bank details have been changed to some back account in NSW, so that when i lodge my tax return, the money goes to that account and not mine.

Yeah pretty stupid, call the ATO and sort it out, they should be pretty happy to help especially as it's the deadline today. I do my return pretty much at the start of July - because why the hell not, I get extra money back haha - but yeah I think last year or the year before I got caught out with that e-Tax issue. Having been on youth allowance all my MyGov stuff was set up pretty well.
