Dreadful band.

I can't think of one decent band in the last 20 years. Music is finished in my opinion. Not sure where the blame lies
Last 20 years...

Muse
Biffy Clyro
The Strokes
Of Monsters and Men
Mumford and Sons

There is a few to get you started.

Mumford and Sons are shocking since they dropped their banjo.

Lol none of those bands you've listed are remotely epic. They are "meh" at best.

Face it, good music died around the mid 90's. I really feel for the kids growing up in the last ten years with the absolute shyte they've been fed. Every generation deserves music to represent them

I'm going to Coldplay this December (only my 2nd ever concert). Can't bloody wait!
You know what, there's nothing particularly wrong with Coldplay. They get a huge amount of unwarranted negative press. Chris Martin may come across as slightly overbearing, which is probably where the criticism comes from (ie not "cool" enough to be loved by the indie kids) but he is an immensely talented, intelligent guy who has written some of the only post-millennial tunes of any note. I even think their newer stuff is decent

I completely agree. The negative press they get baffles me to be honest.

Can appreciate they're not everyone's cup of tea but I don't think it can be denied how successful and talented they are.

The 1st one was Pete Murray at the Enmore theatre (brilliant venue).

Ironically I love music, I just don't care for it live most of the time.
Nothing better in the world than live music.

I am at my most happiest when I am at a show. Nothing compares to it.

Fair enough. I prefer having headphones on and listening to it that way.

I love Coldplay. Chris Martin is hugely talented. I just watching his Carpool Kareoke the other day which is brilliant.

You're not looking hard enough.

Love the first two albums. Barely listened to the third album. I liked them because they were a folk band. Why did they move away from that I'll never know.
They became too mainstream so tried to change it up but in the process became a bland, nothing band. So frustrating.

Bland, nothing band perfectly sums up their third album. Mainstream is fine. Mainstream doesnt mean you suck. I never understand this. Like you have to be underground, not well known to be a really great band.

That's crap. The GOAT band is the most popular and mainstream band ever. The Beatles.

Being mainstream is a sign that you are good. Because instead of 50,000 people liking your music. Millions do.

Exactly this, never understood the mainstream stigma.

Shouldn't need to look. Quality music always rose to the top, so why not now. Maybe because there isn't really any there
I think the difference with music today compared to previous era's is that it's easier to get stuff out there. Youtube is huge and the internet in general is a massive weapon previous era's did not have.

So the market becomes saturated. Saturated with a lot of crap. There is still good music today, but it's just surrounded by crap music. Whereas the 60's was pretty much ALL AMAZING. There was no Justin Beiber or Rebecca Black etc in the 60's.

Also is it just bands your after?

What about Childish Gambino, my spirit animal. Listen to him and he may too become your spirit animal.

I don't think that's the problem, I think the problem is the generic sound that has come to dominate. It's designed to appeal to the widest possible audience - thus becomes less challenging and more formulaic, generic crap. I mean tell me a tune over the last couple of years that is going to be remembered years from now? Our current top 10 (I just previewed it) is ****ing dreadful. Full of American crap with absolutely nothing of merit at all. And this goes right across the board for all genres not just pop.

The bands of yesterday had something to say and were skilled musicians. Maybe it's because popular music was just more important back then. Now it's just lost in the mix. The biggest media events now are video game releases - not album releases. People are more interested in the latest series on Netflix than they are in music. That's just the changing times

I can't stand rap, I find it abhorrent

Changing tastes means what you hear on the radio probably isn't the style you liked from a few decades ago.
