Even though I'm not glad he was elected I still find it pretty disgusting how many people (including friends of mine) have expressed some sort of hope that he gets assassinated. That's incredibly low IMO.

Was having a chat with the missus this morning. She's a disenchanted labour voter in Australia, largely due to her upbringing. I've always voted tory as a fiscal conservative in Australia and the UK.

We both agreed that we haven't seen a republican presidential candidate in our lifetime who we would vote for.

This is not a left vs right issue, this is about preservation vs destruction debate in my mind.

I believe the UK will be in a strong position long term if Brexit occurs. The US on the other hand is completely screwed long term as a result of the election. Sure, Hillary was a terrible candidate but the damage she could do was largely limited. The same cannot be said of Trump.

The World is in a very difficult place right now, that's why Trump got elected. If everyone was happy, he wouldn't get near the White House.

Exactly this. He may be many things but if people are happy with how things are going he doesn't even become a candidate.

It's not just America where people are getting shitty with their future prospects. It's all over the western world. The fact that it would take me and my partner 3-4 years of rent free (or 6+ renting) living at 28 and on well above average money to afford to buy within 20kms of Melbourne, Sydney or Auckland pisses me off like you wouldn't believe.

If a candidate that wasn't a nut job could actually shake up our political system and actually think about doing something to help affordability I'd jump right on board. **** I'd probably run for a seat somewhere. Unfortunately those shaking up the system tend to be nuts like trump, hanson, Katter etc

I would say he hasn't spoken like that since his youth at a guess. Every guy is going to have objectified women at one point in time. Although I can honestly say I've never said what Trump was alluding towards...

We vote for our local member only - don't the US vote for either Trump or Clinton specifically?
