Unpopular opinion atm but I actually like it.
You're entitled to that opinion, but why? The voters choose their preferred candidate but unless they are in the majority in that state their vote counts for nothing. Not the way a democracy should operate imo.

I have no issue with the system, but I can understand why people have issue with roughly a quarter of the population voting someone into office with the other candidate getting more votes.

America isn't a democracy in the traditional sense, it's a constitutional Republic. Where the rights of minorities are theoretically protected from the 'tyranny of the majority'.

The right moaned after the last election. Trump himself blasted the electoral college system despite Obama also winning the popular vote.
Did they riot though? Didn't see riots after the first black man became president did you.

If you drive through Chicago or many other cities in the US with Trump stickers on your car, you'd likely be lynched. That's where we are at now - and actually one of the reasons Trump won.

You'll be lynched? Back down from that hyperbole son.

And no it isn't one of the reasons Trump won. Trump won because of the disintegration of the Democratic base. Check out Jatz's image.

Very right wing views again SM lol

They didn't riot because he wasn't an unqualified racist bigot and he won both the electoral vote and the popular vote. There was no reason to riot.

How you aren't comprehending this is I don't quite understand.

Did you watch the video? That bloke was beaten senseless - probably for being the wrong colour. A sole white man celebrating Trumps victory in a majority black area would almost certainly come to extreme harm.

Where are the riots this time? Peaceful protests aren't riots.

As would a Spurs supporter celebrating a Tottenham goal in the home end at the Emirates..

That's the lefts view on Trump, not the overall consensus. He ran a controversial campaign, but no racist or bigoted policies have been put into action yet, because guess what - He's not in office yet

So you have just condoned racial violence - well done. I'm sure though had it been whites beating up on a black you wouldn't though. Disgraceful stuff.

No I didn't. I suggested that someone celebrating a result in an area of people upset by said result is not making an intelligent decision.

If an African American went into a predominantly white area after Obama's election and was celebrating in their faces, I'd be upset at him being attacked - as I am this guy - but would call him out for what he is: an idiot.

Without condoning it. We all know where you stand anyway.

The point is it shouldn't be that way. Shows how divided America is on racial lines. The lefts failed attempt at creating new societies

The American electoral system is so ******ed, winning a state by 51% to 49% should not mean you get all that states electoral votes, it isn't a true representation of the public vote which is what a democracy should be.
Agreed. If I win a state with 20 votes, 11 to 9, I should get 11, not all ****ing 20.

Still nothing compared to the hatred on the right, have a read through this twitter feed of the cases of racial and violent abuse which have been inspired by Trump's victory, now this is disgusting: https://twitter.com/ShaunKing

I was debating whether to read that link or not, knowing it would be bleak reading. But I just had a look through and holy shit, that is ****ed.

You're absolutely right, there is a huge racial divide in America.

Why does everything have to be "left" or "right" with you? The general public can see that Trump is a despicable person who has won office based on a voting system that have elected him despite not being the majority of voter's preference for president. He ran his campaign based on promising policies that are unconstitutional (https://www.aclu.org/feature/donald-trump-one-man-constitutional-crisis) trying to pander to the right wing voters and has incited racial violence across the nation by being elected, you don't have to be a "lefty" to find that intolerable.

I was debating whether to read that link or not, knowing it would be bleak reading. But I just had a look through and holy shit, that is stuffed.
I know, I was disappointed at the election of Trump but after reading that I am downright angry.

How else would you define it? Why do whites move out of areas that become predominantly full of minorities? Do the majority of whites want to become minorities in their own countries? Basically how many want to see uncontrolled immigration?

I'm questioning your description of people coming to live in a country as 'forcing' the existing people living there to live with them when they would have voted for politicians on platforms of immigration reform. Yet at the same time I doubt you see those white populations as 'forcing' themselves on native populations despite literally invading those countries originally.

Because the majority should win. It's no different to over here - if you vote for your local labor/liberal candidate and they lose, the vote counts for nothing essentially.

They campaign on immigration reform but it never happens, because I suppose the need for cheap, foreign labour trumps all.

The other point is a ridiculous one and something the left often trot out. Not even worth addressing because we live in the here and now. What I will say though is there are plenty of countries around the world that have barely no white migration to them.
