Head-in-sand approach always works.

I haven't put any extremist views across if you actually read my posts. You are being over-sensitive. I will move away from putting everything in a left/right context though if, which I think you are right, stifles debate
That comment was referring to your posting in general, not just on this specific topic. If you want to have actual discussions with people try putting forth information as well as opinions and actually take the time to read the information other people post, actually be open minded rather than blindly defending your own opinion, stop stereotyping posters because they don't align with your views and in general just stop being so quarrelsome. Otherwise every thread you post in will continue to turn into a shit fight like this one.

Just ask FAITH
Doesn't that say more about the board than FAITH.

Everyone's got different opinions right. I've been painted as some facist just because I don't go along with the neo-lib agenda. I'm not facist - I'm pro immigration just think it needs to be managed. I'm pro-freedom of speech so at times I think political correctness impedes on that too much. To some people though, that marks you out as a racist, which I think is causing these divisions in society to grow larger. It's very difficult to get these opinions across to people who are from a different generation to me. Also, it's proven you are more liberal when you are younger - but believe me, for many that changes the older you get. You have to try and see the other side of things when you are having these debates. That includes me as well

How does PC inhibit your freedom of speech?

Yeah point taken actually. Feelings have been running high on both sides though, but I suspect things should calm down and perhaps we will have more rational debates in future.

Because so many things you are unable to express freely anymore

Who is stopping you expressing them?

There's a difference between not being able to express things, and not liking the response you'll get for expressing them.

No one stops you saying them, but you could make things difficult for yourself under the current political climate. It came in with good intentions, but like most things it has a downside to it. I think we reached the point where PC has gone too far.

So no one stops you saying things. So PC culture doesn't stop you saying things.

If you want to say vile things people will respond in a particular way. That has nothing to do with a PC culture. This comes back to this silly notion that the media was unfair on Trump, when in fact they were just responding to the things he was saying.

Of course you are not going to say something if it has now been deemed politically incorrect. You may not get thrown in jail for it, but that's not the point.

Who is talking about "vile" things? That is where PC came in and did a good thing by giving those who had to put up with discrimination a voice. Trump did cross the line, I never said he didn't. I for one, no matter what company I was in, would never express that Mexicans were all rapists. Saying that would never be acceptable even back in the 70's and 80's. PC though inhibits me to say that, for example, I don't agree with gay marriage (I have no problem with it by the way). You can still say it, but it's not PC to do so anymore therefore infringing freedom of speech

That is the point. You're saying PC culture means you can't say things. What you really mean is you want to be able to say things that won't make people think bad of you, and are upset that people think things you say are bad.

Tough. People don't think the same as you and that's nothing to do with a PC culture and everything to do with the world advancing in their perceptions of each other.

That's not wholey correct. Some will agree with that stance, but the majority of people will tell you it has gone too far. It's the liberal establishment that forces these things, and that's why they are now losing power. Again, you don't seem to be looking outside your own small world. Big world out there SM

If you want to assume that go ahead, but I think my world experience already encompasses yours, which seems to revolve around a small wedge of the populace in England and not much else.

Trump won and the sun still rose in the morning.

**** imagine if bigfooty or social media was around in the 1940s

Will be checking whether it actually rises in the morning daily for the next 4 years coz I believe some shit's gonna go down in the world soon. Not just the US that's a mess, asia's a mess, africa's a mess, europe's a mess

I don't get people who say this. Do they not realise the President-elect isn't the President?

I don't fully agree with what WR is saying here but I do think people have a sheep mentality to think things are un-PC when deep down they think it themselves and then judge others who say the same un-PC thing they're thinking. Clear as mud I bet. But in my mind it made sense lol

All I'm saying is I got up to go to work today with no threat of being enlisted to fight a war. Or threat of an air raid while at work. The worlds not as bad as people are making out is what I'm saying

That's entirely different from what we're discussing.

I 100% agree that I'm sick of the PC culture, but it's ridiculous to suggest that in any way that is preventing people from speaking their mind.

I think the narrative around transgender people for instance is pathetic and panders to a small subset of culture that the people pandering to them don't understand themselves.

PC culture didn't stop me typing that sentence did it?

Think what you want, and again you have shown you are unable to debate without slinging arrows. You are totally unable to even comprehend both sides without throwing abuse.
