sampras didnt have as much passion to keep playing on. fed will probably keep playing til his ready to go to a retirement home

That's different to what you originally said. Earning ~$60m a year probably helps Federer continue to play at this stage of his life.

I don't think you can draw conclusions on how much someone loves the game based on when they retire.

sampras and fed are so similar in terms of how they played, only diff is fed genuinely luvs the game whereas sampras didnt.
for me fed>samp>djok>nadal

Sampas never winning the French puts him behind the others imo, who have won at all 4 slams.

yes it does. if youre passionate about something you keep doing it til you physically cant. sampras could of kept playing til he was 40 and probably won as much as fed, but said many time he was sick of the travelling and whole tennis scene.

Yeah weird comment from FAITH, Sampras relied on his booming serve and was the last great serve volleyer (not that there can't be more in the future). Completely different to Fed.

sampras was everything like fed.
most of you guys were probably in your nappies when he was playing

The only thing in common they had was they won grand slams.

Fed in his prime would of whipped Sampras imo, Sampras was my idol growing up, but the current generation is a lot stronger imo than the Sampras/Agassi era.

He's a lot more athletic, just as powerful server, his ground strokes are far heavier, Sampras had big ground strokes for his era but Fed still hits them as hard as anyone.

Who cares? Elite athletes can decide for themselves when they want to finish. Especially when you've achieved what Sampras did, there's nothing wrong with bowing out on top.

you cant do that though, because fitness levels/nutrition/raquets etc are much more advanced now days.
if you brought sampras to this era he would be minim as good as fed, imo probably more talented

Sampras was still in the full professional era. Just because the standards are higher and training more intense shouldn't detract from Federers dominance in a FAR stronger era.

imo sampras era was way more competitive and better level. you got guys now in the top 20 who give up mid way through a game because theyre bored.

Just stop.
