I like Suits and Mad Men but they are not even close to the quality of the Sopranos etc. Game of Thrones is massive now but again, doesn't get near the Sopranos for me. Haven't seen Mr Robot or True Detective yet.

You might only be able to count 5 great TV shows from that era but that doesn't mean there only was 5 great shows haha.
I'm still waiting for The Sopranos to get good, what season does that happen in?

WW is the only 90s/00s show that I do absolutely adore.

I more find that the middle episodes are boring as ****. Nothing happens in the middle of seasons except for 'setting things up' for the big last 2 episodes.

And don't bother SM, I already know why you'll tell me I'm wrong with that view :D
Wouldn't say you're wrong mate, everyone's entitled to their opinion, as I said to Boj, just depends on how invested you are in the show.

You loved Westworld I thought it was a bore, so each to their own.

Didn't know we were arguing. :p

I dunno just find that funny then since you're criticising people for watching their box.
The argument is not with you it was on the decline of popular culture. You brought uo "television" (using a now outdated term for it seems) as being an example of high culture or at least of culture progressing. That may be the case, but it's no substitute for what has also been lost

I thought it was just a discussion mate that's all.

If you don't already love it, you probably won't.
I like it but I don't love it. Watching people get bashed to death is a bit extreme, and there seems to be a lot of turnover in the characters so apart from Tony and his immediate family I struggle to stay engaged.

john snow, the little fat campaigner, the little kid who can't walk. the fire women is fit but her section is mostly boring too.
:D Fair enough mate, it's not for everyone.

Wasn't getting triggered just didn't think anyone was getting worked up about it. No stress. :thumbsu:
No stress at all. I was genuinely interested in your views of what Paul Watson had to say about the decline of popular culture. And I say that because you usually put up a good "defence" against "attacks" on the liberal establishment- which is what Watson does.

Have a watch of this, he actually defends the improvement of "T.V" productions, and comes up with a theory on why this hasn't been the case with music. As I say mate, genuinely interested on your thoughts, that's all

I didn't click watch because the thumbnail didn't look like something I should be watching at work. Will watch tonight.

Nice to know you think I put up a good case though. :)

It's extreme because that's what actually happened in the mob. That shit used to (and still does) happen.

The main characters don't turn over that much. Some of the lesser lights do though.

Not saying it wasn't, just saying I don't find it particularly compelling viewing when it doesn't contribute to the plot and is just done on minor characters in the show for 1-2 episodes.

Then maybe I don't know who the main characters are meant to be, seems to be a virtually all new cast every few episodes apart from the main 4-5.

i still watch it but i skip storylines that I deem to be boring. love the dragon lady, the dwarf and i really liked the episodes when the stark girl was hanging around with the mount. they were gold.

It'll all be relevant from here on out from your point of view - I'd assume. I love Jon Snow and his plot though, but I guess that's with the foreknowledge of his importance helping out.

Apart from his immediate family, his crew are in every episode. Then there's the shrink of course.

Which is why I said the main 4-5. I see Tony, Melfi, Chris and Carmela as the main characters based on screen time. The episode I referenced last night brutally killed a character who was literally in one episode. Then there was a few episodes ago a guy got bashed on the head with a golf club, he'd been in only that scene. Things like that I don't mind watching when it progresses the plot or involved main characters, but it was literally a one-shot storyline.

T2 is awesome. Watched it the other day with my 13 year old and it's aged well.
Definitely stands the test of time. Watched the first one as well recently, some effects obliviously are a little dated but it's still damn good. Some scary shit as well. The tone of T2 was much lighter in comparison. Great movies.

As soon as James Cameron left, it went rapidly down hill from there.

I saw Terminator recently and hated it, think I'd only seen it once or twice before, and watching it again ruined my memory of it, the effects looked terrible to me. T2 has definitely stood the test of time though.
