Just not a fan of artists who cover songs that get played on triple j all the time anyway. I don't see the point, feels like it's defeating the purpose of the whole thing, especially when they're never as good.

I honestly dont understand what you want. And classing amy shark and childish in the same category is silly.

They just pick a song they like. Most artists like proper music talent, and therefore do their favourite songs for covers. Its no surprise really.

Additionally, that amy shark song has been really big in Aus, both commercial and triple j. I think your opinion is clouded by your dislike for the songs they've covered

If you like those ones then fair enough, and I'm sure a lot of other people do too. I like the ones where they pick a song that you wouldn't expect to hear and do something totally different with it.

Like when Childish Gambino did his like a version, he covered a Tamia song from the 90's and crushed it. Even the Kasabian one the other week was cool just because it was a bit different, and in my opinion, what like a version should be all about.

I like it for the addition of LCD Soundsystem into the song. Always going to be tough covering Redbone which is fantastic. Chick on vocals is great

They just need to be more of a re-invention of the original song. That gambino cover was just too similar to the original to find interesting.

The ones that are great are where the cover takes the original and puts a completely different spin/feeling on it. One that springs to mind (even though I don't particularly like her music) was Missy Higgins' cover of Gotye - Heart's a Mess, where she took a fairly "sweet" song and made it angry.

Yep, just got Mandate of Heaven, which is giving me an excuse to play in East Asia.

Since my key essential mod is only coming out on the 15th (seriously, haven't been able to go to the vanilla map without it), I'm using the unmodded map as a trial to try out the new features. I've even got a custom Macau nation set up (Sorry Cooldude, Hong Kong is not separate) to see if I can create a Macau/Cantonese dynasty (that said I want to test out to see how resistant to 'Mingsloding' the new expansion has made Ming.

The Ages could be interesting (you can bet I'm going to try go for Taiwan and the Philippines ASAP), so we'll see how the trial goes.
