Just found out my Aunties fiance dropped dead of an aneurysm last Friday night. They were talking about their upcoming wedding in November when he just keeled over and died. Just in complete shock, never experienced anyone doing that before.

My poor aunty as well - she's got her wedding dress in the cupboard that he never saw etc. Now she has to cancel a wedding and plan a funeral.

Wow. That's sucks mate. That's horrible. From such highs to a devastating low.

Curious, is your family close with your Aunty? I mean no disrespect but how come you've only just found out? My relatives notify someone immdiately if anything happens.

They're all in Melbourne so I'm not particularly close with them (see them maybe once a year) but she didn't tell anyone until this morning. I guess because of the shock/sadness maybe.

Her 17 year old daughter was in the house at the time and tried to perform CPR for 20 mins until the ambulance arrived.

I have no idea how they move past that. I'm just in complete shock and I only met him on a handful of occasions.

Yep. She's been divorced twice before as well and was finally happy (they'd been dating 6 years), looking forward to the wedding etc.

He's got no living family either so the funeral falls to her. On top of that, she's currently confined to a wheelchair at the moment with no movement in her legs.

It honestly sounds like something out of a nightmare. Luckily all our family south of the border are there to help her out through this.

Is there even any detection/prevention for those things? Only positive is that it's an entirely painless way to go.
I actually don't know. Having just had a quick look, CT scans sometimes pick them up, depending on the aneurysm.

Seems like it's just one of those 'when it's your time, it's your time' kind of things. I hate that expression though.

FFS, that's just sickening. There's no bloody god. Condolences to both side of the family

Geez that horrible Jatz - terrible news for everyone involved. Condolences to you and the family.

Imagine that. Planning your wedding with the person you want to spend the rest of your life together with and then having to organise the funeral. Just awful. :(

In less sombre news, I saw that Sully movie yesterday. What a miracle that was! Guy landed his plane full of passengers on the Hudson river in New York after losing power to both engines at takeoff. Fact it's based on a true story makes the feat even more incredible IMO. Not just avoiding buildings and bridges but successfully landing on water too. Amazing how their training allows them to remain calm and process the problem without panicking. :thumbsu:

I might see the Deepwater Horizon movie since its relevant to my industry

Yeah I want to see that too! Directed by the guy who did Lone Survivor which was a great film.

What industry is that mate? Petroleum? Drilling? some kind of engineering? :p

Oil and gas.

I am kind of a big deal ;)

That's a no from me. Amazingly boring sport.

I think a lot of people make the mistake of thinking baseball is supposed to be a kind of all action, all excitement, rah rah rah sport. It's not that and it's never pretended to be that. It's very analytical, it provides a million opportunities to second guess what the manager will do in a given situation. It has it's exciting moments for sure but it's so much more than that. Understandably, that's just something that interests people who look for other things in sport.

Yeah and I get that, but I dont really rate the skill of it much. I dont think you have to incredibly talented to be a baseball player. Just the pitcher really needs special kind of talent. I can run and throw and catch ball with a big glove on which helps and hit a ball.
