She was carrying a Jigglypuff stuffed doll last Friday though so I think she has enough good toys

I wasn't being presumptuous as virtually everyone can name at least one film they've never seen that most people have.

Have you ever watched the older Disney films? Elements of them would be considered politically incorrect by today's standards. You must know that we live in a far more politically correct world now. For certain formats, like a harmless Disney film, I think political correctness impedes upon it. Those earlier films had a greater freedom about them which is essential to story-telling. Just my take

Yes, I just don't see how the newer ones are somehow inferior. Lion King, Hercules, Aladdin etc are considered Disney's golden age.

Says nothing about a "Golden Age". I agree it was up from the previous decade and probably the 70's too, but the Golden age for Disney would probably by the 1940's and 50's. A "resurgence" implies that it was coming back to something it was before

It doesn't beat the era when Disney made its name does it. It just means it had a renaissance that harkened back to when Disney was a creative force, because it hadn't been for probably some 20 years previous.

As a kid born in Hong Kong I grew up on them, they're magic. My favourite's always Totoro

Bit hard to compare them coz obviously Disney gets a bigger budget therefore more production value but I think the Disney songs edge it for me

I love most things Japan though, apart from the war crimes

I think plot wise, they are far better. Grave of the fireflies is one of the saddest films I have ever seen.
