Calling A-League supporters terrorists, and releasing a list of confidential names of people who have been given ground bans.
Whoa. I never would have signed up if I knew it made me a terrorist.

It's hard to have any sympathy for them is what I think Dr G is saying. Have to agree with him on that

I have sympathy for minors and others having their names dragged through mud when some of them were actually wrongfully evicted and have since had their banning orders overturned. From memory some of the evictions were for ridiculously minor things. This isn't thugs brandishing bats smashing people's heads in, this is people yelling loudly, or having a few too many drinks, etc.

Here's a poser for you, if Trump died suddenly, and you are one of these Twitteratti, would you tweet mocking/disrespecting him, or would you remain dignified silent?

Completely agree. Surely there's some sort of respect and decency given she has passed away.
Agree.
Condolences to her family and friends.

Regardless of what you think of the person, some common respect and decency should be shown.

Probably wouldn't say anything, but would depend on the context.

There's nothing wrong with that. Do something wrong and you shouldn't get protected for it. Named and shamed.

Its not that black and white though. A lot of the people on this list just received a letter out of the blue informing them of their punishment but offering no means to appeal the accusations levelled at them, some didn't even know what they were supposed to be banned for. Not everyone on that list is guilty as some have been victims of mistaken identity or just made guilty by association.

The people on this list were afforded no rights to contest the accusations levelled at them but were at least assured that their details would remain confidential. When the media leaked that list people lost jobs over it and a lot of the people she was outing as 'terrorists' were still minors. It was disgusting.

Why were they arrested if that's all they were doing?

I wouldn't waste my time saying anything.

That's a whole other minefield to wade into. There's a lot of issues at the moment with a lot of unfair discrimination against football supporters in this country.

The whole naming thing was a problem, but more of a problem when it's her doing it considering she always took the "won't someone think of the children" moral high ground stance on everything in her journalism, then do the low thing when it suits her

Ok I'm getting it now. Silly of her. Did she get punished?

I can't remember. I know there was a lot of condemnation of her from the media and football supporters but can't remember if anything came of it.

Look, I'll fully admit my view is more broad than this issue. She may very well have disclosed people not culpable or as culpable or a minor. I still applaud her endeavour to buck the system even if wrong.

I do so because I think those that do wrong in this country and especially this state are afforded too many liberties and protections. This is a justice system that saw fit to allow Mokbel and Bayley out on bail.... that ended well both times. A justice system that preaches confidentiality for the housing locations of sex offenders and paedophiles, essentially requiring us to trust that they'll 100% of the time not put the community at risk. Big ask. Hence I have more latitude for these individuals and zero sympathy for people who do wrong.

We need more people like Hinch, Assange and Wilson imo that are willing to wear the consequences for disclosing things that may be in the public interest even if some magistrate or authoritative body thinks otherwise.

Isn't there a registered sex offenders list..?

Also on that having zero sympathy for people who do wrong, many of the people 'outed' by Bec were actually found to be innocent and had their banning orders overturned. Do you have no sympathy for them having their names publicised?

Do you have any sympathy for victims of crimes? As a big lefty you probably have more sympathy for the crim's - which your posts indicate.

I have no idea how to respond to any of that post, especially the accusation that I'm in any way a lefty. I think if you said that to anyone I know they would burst out laughing.

Again we're talking specifically about this list of people who have been released, which you've already admitted you have little idea about.

I agree with you on Hinch. I don't agree with you on Assange, he has released information that has compromised military operations. There was no need to release the list of banned football fans when none had been convicted of a crime, some of whom were minors and some of whom were completely innocent (one bloke was overseas when he was banned and it turned out to be a case of mistaken identification). As for Pedos I'm all for revealing them so parents can know that their children can be safe.
