I just responded in kind - but evidently it wasn't SM who had the car accident. I still think he's got a brain injury but I have no idea how it occurred

While it may have been traumatic at the time, surely you're not that old and bitter that you can't have a little laugh about it now and see why people might find it funny and call you a vampire. Which admittedly is funny.
