I did rewatch the Force Awakens on the weekend for the first time since the cinemas.

I still have every reservation I did when I saw it the first time. Really didn't think it was much good (and very Disney).

Yes I thought so too. A bit too much Disney fluff. Hopefully it's not overboard in the actual movie.

I think they're trying to make it synch with ANH though which itself was pretty hammy/cheesy for large chunks.

My big issue with TFA was that while I liked it as a movie, it just didn't ring true as Star Wars for me. As much as we bag George Lucas, I still feel like he brought something to the saga that was different to what these guys are bringing. The prequels feel more Star Wars than TFA. That's not to say I didn't like TFA though, just tonally.

That was my big issue with it.

Sure it was nice having Han/Leia/Luke (kind of) appear but it didn't feel Star Wars.

I thought Fin was pretty memorable, Poe not as much because he's only in maybe 15 minutes of screen time, and hell Rey was huge!

Think back to the original trilogy, did you think any differently of Leia?
Well as a young boy Leia was always going to be secondary to Han and Luke (and even Chewie) and I guess that's the way things are with boys (we are talking well before you hit puberty you understand!). But I think Leia was liked also. The new Star Wars won't achieve anything unless it establishes some first class leads like in the original trilogy. That probably won't happen as magic rarely repeats

Haha was going to say, would have thought that gold bikini would make her all that matters. :P

Rey is definitely liked, she is HUGE with kids.

It's behind a paywall. What is it?

No idea how I get it then haha.

Vic education system bringing in a mandatory subject teaching kids about male privilege and how this has lead to dominance and aggression in men.

Wow. What is that even supposed to achieve?

Feel like it's just going to destroy a lot of young boys' self-esteem and make them feel like they're terrible people when they haven't done anything to deserve it. Left-wing agenda to dictate how everyone should think and feel about every social issue.

WealstoneRaider complained he never sees any conservative opinions on here, here's one. :D

Doesn't surprise me in the least. Male self-esteem has already been eroded massively and that isn't going to help. Don't know about Oz but in the UK suicide for young men is far higher than it is for girls. Many of the industries where men worked have gone and now in the office women are being fast-tracked and pushed ahead of men to make the quota's. Massive pressure on young men in society now to fit in to this new modern world when the male psyche is being changed so much. I don't know how far you can dismantle this male, or particularly white male privilege myth before the powers that be say enough is enough. I doubt it will happen as there is a whole industry behind this now - empowering women etc

I actually am sick of hearing about women have less opportunities in the office.

I work in a team of 10 an I'm the only male.

They also asked the head of HR (for our international company) and COO when they were in the office last, about opportunities for women in senior roles. Both the head of HR and COO were women.

I think it's actually swung so far the other way at the moment. It just pisses me off hearing in our office that they don't get the same chances. They're getting bloody most of them.

My old work was like that. Youngish female manager was groomed as the big thing because of how good it looked for the company being progressive! Failed to look into how ordinary she was as a manager but opportunities would just fall her way time and time again

90% of grads here are an ethnicity other than Caucasian, and female. It's ridiculous. They can't spout white male entitlement to me, Im ****ing lucky I got this job.

Its an amazing achievement for any male to get a job as companies can just hire females and pay less can't they.
Thought you hated lefty opinions, and yet here you are.

Got an interview for the 2IC position in my team Tuesday week.

I don't expect to get it - my mate/colleague who also went for it has an interview too. I expect him to get it and would not be annoyed/angry or begrudge him at all.

See what happens I guess.

Good luck mate!
