Depends on the genre you are basing it on. Too simple to say one decade was better than any other for music in general.

80s had the best chart music - certainly up to at least '86 by my reckoning. And that's the most important thing because that's the music you are hearing most of the time be in it in your car, on the tv in a club or wherever. It makes up the soundtrack of your life. The mainstream music in the 90's and as it has been since then is 95% cack

Not everyone listens to mainstream music constantly. I never listen to commercial radio and when I go out to a club or gig it's to see an artist that I like.

The "soundtrack of your life" is whatever you choose to listen to.

To a degree that's right, but I can't emphasise enough to you how more pleasant it was to have good mainstream music filling the airwaves. It can't be underestimated

Still a pup then, and with respect wouldn't know first hand about the music scene in the 80's and much of the 90's
I know that Radiohead are from the 90s and as I've said above, that makes the 90s objectively better than the 80s.

**** me you've all lost the plot. 90s pop was heinous I tell you. It's when the generic, bland pop sound came in and it's never recovered. Totally different to the 80s when individuality reigned supreme. **** me it's depressing listening to you lot

Yes, so much this. Even the pop is actually good, in addition to the many other genres being near their peak

90s was the best time to grow up in

That it was. Must admit the late 80's are when it started to turn awesome, but to me music peaked in the early to late 90s. What a crazy decade.
