This guy has pipes, doesn't fit the generic look, has meaningful lyrics and hasn't relied on a bunch of semi-naked ho's to get his video noticed. There may be hope yet

It's up to the viewer to make any comparisons with similarities or events either past or present. As soon as the writers start dictating their own PC credentials then they invite debate. It used to be a good old fashioned sci-fi space fantasy - not some vehicle to promote diversity, feminism as it is now.

If you're really that insecure that you can't handle a woman leading a film, hang tight, in two years there's a Han Solo film coming out. I hear he's a white man, so they must have stuffed their agenda on the backburner for some reason.

Lucas has always had very progressive views which is why he has always been determined to have strong female characters (Leia, Padme, Mon Mothma, etc.) as well as a diverse cast (Lando, Mace Windu, etc.) in his movies. You're right "Diversity" wasn't a thing back then in the sense that it wasn't a dirty word like you seem to be determined to make it.

i've been the same since this week, where i've still got work but have mentally checked right out

I'm taking 6 weeks off at the end of this week so on top of the busy period, I've had to organise a handover. Then yesterday I got told that the person I was handing over to has quit so I need to do it again with a different person.

It's not been a fun month or so haha.

yeah i've got a lot of that too. budgets will ramp up in january but the last 6 weeks have been that busy a whole lot of little crap has built up and right now i'm too cbf to want to tie it up before the busy period

Leia a strong character ? she was borderline neurotic. The sequels don't count - PC culture was in by then and the films were shit anyway.

The diversity of the first three films was fine. I accept that there was a not so very subtle reference to nazism or even as you suggest colonial empires. As it was written by a yank you can understand that (although the US is an empire in all but name).

Anyway, I'm not getting embroiled in another debate with you on it because for one we will never agree, and two you are starting to become annoying

Apparently in this instance it's because they used elements from the game that just come off as weird and stupid in a movie.
