It had all the hallmarks of being a terrorist attack so why wouldn't they - and even if it wasn't directly it certainly was inspired by them. I've already seen that he had IS sympathies anyway.

Terrorism existed long before it became the weapon of choice by extremist groups that happen to be Muslims, is utilised by many other groups with different agendas and objectives even now, and will exist long after the threat from IS and other Islamic extremist groups dissipate. It is lazy, naive and just a genuine nonsense to immediately assume that any tragedy is inspired by one particular group or another.

It's ok to question whether terrorism is involved when there's reason to do so. In this case there's absolutely nothing to suggest terrorism is / was involved.
