Oh, the Legion I'm referring to is a.. X-Men spinoff? TV show or something. It's related to X-Men in some way.
noooooo hahaha

The old story is of a mythological creature who draws its power from others and needs them around to exist and would be over 1000 years old haha The more people around it, the more powerful it is.

Red Dwarf did a brief rehash of it which was an interesting take on it.

extrapolate a sample from your experience. ...

Gtown would be all right and the surrounding areas. Queensland is unbelievably bad. Tasmanians don't like any outsiders regardless of race.

areas of rural vic are bad. sure that doesn't explain everyone but you can use a sample to draw a conclusion.

I'm not disputing there are or aren't racists here. Every country has them, naive to think otherwise.

Just baseless to try and quantify the extent to which this is the case given we'll never interact with 99.9% of Australians and as you say it varies. It's just a blind guess.

Interesting, definitely sounds like it would be a good basis for a show.

yeah but my blind guess is better than yours.

so there

I have a pretty wide social network and it's almost an even proportion of white yellow and coloured people, this racist stuff isn't something I've even talked about as I grew up in Melbourne, we all just got along. I don't doubt there are a lot out there though, like western Sydney would be a lot worse for example

It's a bit of a urban vs rural divide atm that's happening all around the world, Trump and Brexit shows it to be the case too, not just on racial views but other economical and political views

Heh, glenferry23 m I never thought there would be something outside of Batman that would make you feel absolutely fantastic about it. Not a fan of the X-Men stuff myself, but it sounds like its worth a shot.

Yes it's rare it happens to me these days, been let down so many times by films of late. But thankfully this delivered. Very worthwhile watching it even if you're not a fan or not familiar with the other X-Men films. It's almost a standalone.

I had a good lie down this evening. That helped.

She's talked about hating pique law and bringing in cheap foreigners, but that's not racist.
if that's what she really believes, which she doesn't, then why doesn't she have a crack at the companies who do so rather than promoting policies whereby anyone who isn't a white australian needs to gtfo.

There'd be 6-8m racists in Australia. Doesn't matter what that percentage is that's 6-8m too many

Also racist doesn't have to mean wearing a KKK hat and preaching etc.

Most racists just hold simple minded racial views and don't communicate them.

Many in Melbourne now would be thinking things like all black teens are trouble with the recent apex problems. Imo that view is racist. And I know pretty smart normal people who'd actually think that. It's just the way our country is. We've been racist since day one only thing that changes is the target

You can make estimates based on samples of the population. You do know that if you know, say, 1000 people - of which I'd say I've made "acquaintances" of at least that many so far in my life - you can judge based on a proportion of that.

Living in Melbourne my view of the population is that we are largely accepting of other cultures, although experiences in rural areas would suggest otherwise. It seems to me that the more people interact with "immigrants" the less racist they become and that racism is largely born out of naivety regarding other cultures, which forces them to assume the worst and paint entire cultures with the same brush.
Anyone catch Gambino's show Atlanta on tuesday? Thought it was pretty awesome, right up my alley. Look forward to the series
Yep love this show (has been available online for a while so I've seen the whole series), Darius' character is a ****ing pisser.

Red Dwarf that brings back memories :D. Never knew that storyline had a mythological backstory.

Been wresting all morning whether to go to work today, or see Logan again. After taking yesterday off as well, and after much thought this morning, it's pretty clear what the right thing to do is....

10.30 session booked.

four-day-weekend

I did a stats subject on this very thing. I can look up the required sample size to make a decent judgment on the population of Australia.

Looks like (from a table I found online) it works a little differently for quantitative data. But at most, (99% confidence, 1% margin of error) you need ~16500 people for the sample.

just use Queensland minus StevieDewar as your sample

Is that a set number or is it a relative percentage of the demographic/population you are trying to analyse?
