You two seemed to have totally forgotten about all the times you needlessly attacked me. All started in the welching thread if I remember, when you both steamed in when I was already battling about ten trolls. Don't ever forget that

Do any of you guys have an interesting hobby?

I like watching wrestling but I dunno if that counts as a hobby.

Perhaps we can discuss it and not sling shit.

Trump is being attacked systematically by the left and he has hardly begun to govern. I don't agree with how he has totally handled things since being elected, but it's plain to see the left don't accept his victory and are out to scupper him. Watching his speech at congress, where he was on point and called for unity between the dems and republicans, and yet was met with stoney-faced silence at best, and jeers and heckles at worst, confirmed this and showed me what side is willing to listen and work together where possible .
Regardless of what you think of the left, if you are a politically open minded person (or administration) that is willing to listen to both sides you would respond to any allegations and reports with facts that disprove them, rather than childishly dismissing them under the banner of "Fake News". The fact they have banned certain news organisations from their press conferences is a sign that proves the opposite.

While the joint session speech was certainly an improvement on his previous behaviour you can barely chalk it down to anything more than PR. It's easy to call for Unity when you are the one in power, as it basically is asking for the opposition to align with your own viewpoint and stop challenging your actions, which is the opposite of what political parties are supposed to do. As many political pundits have pointed out it involved no policy or explanation of "how" he was planning on doing anything, just a list of things that Americans wanted to hear that was read off a teleprompter. It may as well have been a campaign speech prior to the election. What will actually decide whether he is becoming more 'presidential' or actually was striving for unity will be his actions over the coming months/years, and whether he keeps any of these promises and allows the press the freedom to present the news to the public without the whitehouse's interference.

It's also pretty damning that independent fact checking of that speech found that he lied up to 50 times during it o_O.

Interesting is subjective.

I can just sit round and listen to music and not be bored. I am really enjoying reading on the train too.

Again, hardly interesting though.

I wonder if it is noticed who came in and started flinging shit. I suppose I'll get blamed again!

That's an interest, not a hobby.

Unless you also actually wrestle, then that's a hobby!
Fair.

We should have a match here. SM and Cruyff vs WR.

The congress speech has never been an ocassion where policies are discussed in depth. He outlined some vaguely, but the main thrust of it was to, wait for it, confirm to congress and more importantly the American people that he is going to deliver on what he promised in his mandate (I know that's novel for a politician these days!).

As I said, don't totally agree with how he has handled the fake news thing, but he's fighting fire with fire which I do applaud. The MSM can't stand him so it's important to recognise we are on new ground here. No former President has had to put up with attacks from such vocal parts of American society.

Ive got no problem with him banning news outlets (CNN etc) that were so pro-Clinton and continue their anti-trump rhetoric before policies have even began to be implemented. **** them - there is a new alternative media which is reaching more and more people anyway - why not use them instead. No one should have a god given right to access.

So you post about Trump not believing news, and then post a stat that has probably been deciphered as fake news anyway! But let's get it right, fake news is just another term for spin. But (and this is the important part) when so called neutral news agencies like CNN are blatantly biased against Trump, then he has every right to pull them up on it.

I'm actually currently into making models. Just the ones you buy, paint and assemble. I'm currently working on HMS Hood at the moment. Legendary battleship that was sunk by the Bismarck in WWII :'(

It confirmed nothing. If he does follow through with any of his promises then that is delivering. We've already seen him make promises in his campaign that he has backed out of and ones that he could never go through in the first place with as they are unconstitutional.

He isn't fighting fire with fire. The fire is the news and accusations against him and his administration with research, sources, facts etc. What he is fighting back with is dismissal of any of this news. If he was fighting fire with fire he would go to the same effort to defend himself by producing facts, research and sources that conflict with these accusations. Obama was accused of not being an American citizen by Donald Trump and Republican supporters without a shred of evidence and using unnamed sources, how is that any different?

There are pro-trump and anti-democrat news outlets that are just as biased, yet they are allowed in to the conferences. You shouldn't ban one media outlet just because they report unfavourably against you. This is exactly what I'm talking about with your previous statement. If you want to be open minded and listen to both sides of the argument, how can you justify banning one side from the argument?

Wow so you just followed the same pattern by dismissing my stat as fake news. That is pretty poor even by your standards, but does explain your affection for Trump.

It's occurred to me in recent weeks that despite their choice in football team, most of the Arsenal-supporting members of this board really are excellent posters tbh.

It's frustrating because it makes me not dislike most of you like I so desperately want to. :p

No its just elhadji and his afl team compensates for being a gooner ;)

I feel like I would enjoy doing that, but I need to have much more disposable income than I currently do.

Record collecting is kind of my hobby. Time consuming and expensive, but the rewards for digging through crates for hours and finding a gem are worth it :D

What ones has he backed out of? I think he's relented on using torture after military advice but not aware of any others.

He has debunked most of the shit being flung at him. None of it has stuck. As I said it's spin, and as he isn't experienced in the political field he's not playing by their rules. Some (like you) think that's a bad thing, others (like me) who are fed up with the way politicians spin shit anyway are quite enjoying this new approach. I don't think it will last but I'd say just sit back and enjoy the show - we've not seen anything like it before.

I didn't dismiss it, I said it was spin. What I find funny though is your, as a so-called liberal minded person, objection to anyone who supports Trump. Ironically, that's pretty narrow-minded.

I can't remember how many times I've had to remind you I came into that thread criticizing both sides. Do I have to dig the quote out again?

Gonna go see Logan tomorrow, given the rave review from glen.
