It takes them about two years of tweaking to get the game to the right standard anyway. Stellaris is a bit boring in the mid game.
Yeah, that's very true. I can't even imagine what its like to play Vanilla EU4, with no province development or the massive revamp that Art of War bought in (Oh man, client states are fun too. I love recreating, or re-imagining new nations under my control.) It just feels like a whole new game altogether.

CK2 has improved a damn lot too, and its amazing how much more playable HoI4 is now that the Aussies have their own ideas (so now I don't have to play as Finland and somehow make Finnish Russia by the end of the game.)

One thing Paradox does right is when they release a new game, it usually has the same features the previous game had. It's not like the Sims, where you need to get the same expansion packs over and over again.

Going back a few years but this has also been a good one.

I can't remember many others, but I haven't found this year's soundtrack to be that good. 09-15 had some stellar tracks.

FIFA 00 and 01 had a great soundtrack.

easy. just have to be able to justify it and be reasonable with your demands
I've been there for two years, one of the strongest and senior members in my team. Work hard, reliable, always in early, dedicated and my team brings in a lot of income. etc.

Whether I get it or not is a different story, but don't know if you don't ask.

there you go. just say that mate :thumbsu:

If they say no they should give you a time frame for your next payrise. i.e. after EOFY or December.

Anybody on here asked for a payrise? Working up the courage to do this soon.
as long as it's justifiable for them no reason you shouldn't ask/get it.

i asked for one on tuesday and my manager has bitched it a bit and said he needs to see what's going on with the extra work coming my way etc. so not sure where it stands.

they usually need to budget for it.
there is budget

i know how much the person is being paid that i'm taking over from on an interim basis ($25-30k more than me). If they were smart the replacement would be on $15-20k less than that as it was an internal promotion for the old person with the pay being above what the market would expect for the role. So they've got $10-15k to play with in next year's budget even when the role is no longer vacant

True.

Worst that can happen is they laugh in your face and tell you to go **** yourself.
Yeah. And I stay what I'm on, could be worse etc.

Basically if I (or two others leave), our strongest team member got the role I went for (good on her, happy for her), the team is ****ed. We are already understaffed.

they usually need to budget for it.
Well, yeah.

But last FY my team brought in 43% of income IIRC.

Doesn't mean they have budgeted for any increase in staff costs. As long as you can backup what you've done to improve over the two years you should be fine for at least a small pay rise. Do they give you a small annual one already?

1% industry standard. Went up 1k annually last year.

Spoke to a girl who used to work in my team, she has asked a few times before and got rises (in a diff team now), said to do it etc

I asked last year and was told no you get a review for this etc. also like above they said no room in the budget. I've since accepted another job that's about 15k a year more and suddenly they've found 10k a year more for me to stay... funny that.

1%? I get a 4% increase every year in March.

Luckily for my company they pay me **** all so it hardly costs them much anyway...
Just industry standard.

I am paid **** all (well it could be worse), but it could also be a lot better. And for the amount of work we do/money we bring in, we should be paid more.

At my work if you leave, AFAIK, they don't try and convince you to stay etc

What industry are you in? That seems low.

You've got nothing to lose by asking Cruyff. I ask 4-5 times a year, and usually end up being successful at least once. Obviously you need to put a strong case forward.

If I didn't ask, I wouldn't know.

if you are only going up 1% every year, you are actually going backwards every year in purchasing power.
