7 hours or so.

Cheers for that. Quite a deal shorter than I expected. Ah well, I don't expect to do it all in one sitting, and it's for fun of course.

She got back with teammate and then ended up breaking up again a few months ago and she's basically come back for more Bok action.

Oh, so that's what a Bok Party is...

Just watched Batman v Superman. What a steaming pile of shit that was.

Honestly did not like it at all. Affleck was a shitty Batman.

I know only the very basics about Superman so maybe it would have made more sense had I known more about him but the storyline sucked, the action scenes sucked, the 'heroes' sucked.

Where do I go to get the last 2 hours 30 back? Is that how long it was in cinemas btw? How long is the extended version?

The 'ultimate edition' is 3 hours long. So much better than the theatrical release, but that is a low bar to compare to.

What else is in it? I don't know I could sit through an extra 30 mins of that.

Unfortunately it's not anything major that would correct the significant deficiencies in the movie.

There are however many many bits and pieces that explain shit a whole better. Things like the Africa incident for example. In fact, it makes so much more sense in the extended cut that it makes it even more mind boggling that it was edited out to begin with.

Most of the extended cut scenes you could actually find on YouTube anyway. You may not have to endure the whole movie again.

You must have been disappointed with it? I already knew it was bad going in but it still blew me away, just how shit it was.

The only character I didn't mind was Luthor.

Yes I liked Lex but overall it was a letdown. Had such high hopes and couldn't believe what I was watching at times. Complete lack of understanding of what makes these characters great.

Had some nice nerd moments but it really didn't work out as I was hoping.

Even the writing on the batsuit had no reference haha. Like it was just randomly there without much explanation. If you an I hadn't previously spoken about it, I'd have had no idea what that was about haha.

Really? I thought he was excellent. Highlight of the movie for me.
Couldn't stand him. The fact I hated the movie probably didn't help but in isolation, I thought Bale did the better job.

I also didn't like the 'dark' Batman particularly.

Oh Bale is the definitive Batman no doubt but I think Affleck still did really well and I'm keen to see his standalone movies.

It was a prime example of wasted potential. To just have a fleeting reference to Robin's death without any other context or any other mention of it again, was almost insulting.

I think a major reason for me hating BvS and I know I'll hate the Justice League movie etc is that Batman is my favourite superhero, by some distance. Probably a lot of people's favourite superhero.

I think the two main reasons for that is that you can relate to Batman. He doesnt have superpowers. You cant relate to Spiderman or Superman etc but you can to Batman. The other reason is that Batman has all the best villains. Thirdly... he's just ****ing dark and cool as shit.

But when you surround Batman with Superman in particular and then others in the Justice League, he becomes this nothing character that adds almost nothing to the team. He's fighting way out of his weight division.

I dont like to watch my favourite and coolest superhero be shit and useless and pointless.

Any chance it was there to cause intrigue for an upcoming Batman film?
Agree though, would've made much more sense if there was even a slight flashback or something

Kind of like Hercule and the Dbz characters.

To follow that comparison through entirely, so Mr Satan is your favourite character? ;)

Just like Batman is for Jodly....

at the time of filming BvS, there were no immediate plans for the standalone. At best, it was still 4 years or so away due to the scheduling commitments of other DC movies and Affleck.

They've only now rushed that forward to end of 2018 off the back of the poor reviews and performance of BvS, and enticed Affleck to agree with up heaving his schedule by offerring him to write and direct it.

So unfortunately the excuse about teasing the standalone doesn't apply. It was just another example of fan lip service without any real depth.

Have you seen Suicide Squad?

As the scene of The Bat taking down The Joker was originally meant to be like this.

- Jason Todd (Robin) is urged not to face Joker alone. To wait for Bruce. He doesn't listen and his lured into a trap.

- Todd is captured, beaten etc and left to die. Bruce eventually tracks them down and is the angriest Batman you've ever seen. Loses his shit. Makes the interrogation scene from The Dark Knight look like Play School.

- Beats Joker's goons to their deaths. Chases down Joker and Harley just like the flashback scene from Suicide Squad. It was supposedly the same night as Joker killing Todd.

- but the original scene was meant to be so much more than what we saw in SS. Then The Joker didn't have metal teeth. He only needed fake teeth because after Bruce catches them, he beats the living shit out of them. Both. Including Harley.

- he beats Joker to an inch of his life. Hits him with anything he can find, even bare fisted. Essentially is about to kill him. All this time, Joker is laughing. Cackling at him. Taunting him to finish it. Saying that Joker has already won, he killed the boy wonder etc.

- having failed to save Todd, Bruce retires after putting Joker away. And displays the suit in the cave as a reminder of his greatest failure. This was about 8 years before BvS. He is mindf***ed ever since, is never the same again.

- this is meant to be what prompts off all those endless dreams about demons and death etc. It causes further mental illness as death has always followed and taunted him, from his parents through to Todd.

- after Joker escapes prison (now with metal teeth as replacements) and the Superman incident which destroyed his Wayne building, he feels he has no choice but to come out of retirement.

All of the above is roughly put together from very early concepts and rumours from the movies.

Even so, it had me giddy with excitement.

The inner nerd in me fainted. I screamed like Flanders with purple drapes.

But nothing really eventuated. Nothing. It was just a glimpse of his suit. And nothing else. Campaigners.

Can understand why they wanted to tone down the Harley stuff as they didn't want to show a man brutally beating a woman. But they removed completely any Batman / Joker scene. No doubt it was filmed but eventually removed.

I'm angry at this DC mentality of trying to always tease and preview what they have in store for down the track, I wish they'd just worry about the here and now and actually make a ******* good, coherent and complete movie. The rest will take care of itself in the future.

Sorry for the long post.

TL;DR: I'm annoyed.

Census night hey. Bit funny that they want you to do it online and you can't get on the site.
How they advertised it is ridiculous imo. Like, it should be "Census week" not "Census night" as a lot of people obviously thought you have to do it tonight and only tonight.

Given the infrastructure Australian internet has, this was the inevitable.

At the NDAC in Chepstow at the moment. How cool is this place? 3 helicopters, double decker bus, single decker bus, planes, boats, cars, motorbikes all chucked into a quarry and filled in. Used for diving courses.

Apart from that, Chepstow seems very nice. Would recommend for travellers/expats.

Anyone else been?
