I dont know mate, Edgerton isnt DiCaprio famous but he's pretty famous. He's been in a lot of movies. Ned Kelly, King Arthur, The Thing, Warrior, Animal Kingdom, Smokin' Aces, Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, Black Mass.

And saying Gerard Butler is not that famous either is strange. He's a pretty big movie star??

And he was also awesome in Attack Of The Clones.

Yes I did because it's Star Wars and I love Star Wars. And the actors who were in it who I had no idea about before seeing it were terrific and now I'll watch films with them in it.

I said generally I like to watch movies with known actors, some movies will pop up and surprise me time to time.

So I guess my point is you have a Guatemalan actor in Oscar Isaac, a black British actor in John Boyega, and a white female actress in Daisy Ridley getting the predominant screen time in that movie. You have Harrison Ford holding their hands for portions of it but that's about it as far as 'known' actors go for that movie. Yes it has the tagline of Star Wars, but according to Jod, blockbuster movies with a diverse cast of unknowns is doomed to failure.

You look at The Martian. You have Matt Damon, then you have Sean Bean as the only other REALLY WELL KNOWN white male actor, then you have a couple of others like 'that guy from the Newsroom', but then you have Chiwetel Ejiofer, Donald Glover, Jessica Chastain and Kate Mara. Again, a pretty diverse cast of actors, and most of them you wouldn't be able to pick out of a line up. Again, this movie was a roaring success because the plot was brilliant. Admittedly, Damon's performance was fantastic, but the support cast were brilliant as well.

Blockbuster movies do not need to be white-washed to be successful, and any studio that fails to do this is not doomed to bankruptcy as Jod is trying to purport, and frankly the fact he's carrying on as if this is the case is hideously and disgustingly racist.

I never said cast unknown Egyptians, in fact I literally said that only a few posts ago. I mentioned the fact that they white washed a movie that could have used a varied base of actors, since one of the main defences of having so many white actors in high profile movies is because they "suit the roles better".

How many times do I have to say I'm not expecting them to pluck an Egyptian actor out of obscurity for the role in an American movie, just that the justification "Oh the reason black/minorities don't have starring roles in movies is because they just aren't suited to the role" is complete crap when they're getting passed over to play ethnic roles.

Look at the poster. It's just a huge picture of his face and his name tagged in large letters right above the title of the film. That guy from the news room is actually a hugely famous actor called Jeff Daniels. How do you not know that? How would you not be able to pick out Ejiofer, Glover, Chastain and Mara from a lineup. All are hugely famous!!

Ejiofer is a BAFTA winning actor and has also been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes. Donald Glover is a hugely succesful music artist and TV actor. Chastain has been nominated for two Academy Awards and has won a Golden Globe.

Plenty of movies dont have any white dudes in it at all and there are plenty of bankable actors like Will Smith, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx etc etc the list goes on and on and on that happen to be not white.

What I did say is that if you went to a studio and said we wanna make 200 million dollar movie about Egypt and we're casting all Egyptian unknown actors in the roles because we want it to look right with the right ethnicity. No studio will go for it.

Because the movie wont make money. Nobody will go see it.

The Martian was a really great film. Let's say Matt Damon turned it down and it ended up going to someone like say.... Sam Rockwell. I love Rockwell, terrific actor. But he is not as well known as Damon and the movie wouldnt have made as much money as it did without Damon attached.

You didn't say that quote, that quote is from the video I originally posted which pointed to the fact that most in the film industry defend the point about a lack of diversity because there aren't suitable roles. Which is the entire reason Gods of Egypt was brought up in the first place.

My fear is he'll name a very moderate, reasonable VP candidate to suck in as much of the Republican vote as possible, and then it becomes a real battle.
