I don't know anything about movies, hell i haven't even seen Slumdog.

All i know is it won 8 Oscars and made a **** tonne of money for it's budget.....with a bunch of unknown predominately young ethnic actors.
Fair enough. Was actually a good guess though!

You said that good movies will be popular if they are good. Big Short is an example of that not being the case. You generally find these films are more in the vein of "indies" rather than being blockbusters. We were referring to blockbuster films in regards to race etc were we not?

Ride Along 2 is a sequel that cost 40 million and has tripled that. The first was very successful hence the sequel would be plus Ice Cube and Kevin Hart have been killing it promotionally around the world and Hart is very popular right now. It's not a blockbuster film either.

It's a bit of a Catch 22 for both sides of this argument I'm finding. I argue that having mainstream white actors in popular roles doesn't necessarily make a movie popular, but then there are examples of good movies that aren't popular with or without the big actors.

I think at the end of the day there's not sufficient correlation between star power and box office success to sideline minority actors on the justification of "it wouldn't make very much money" which comes full circle to the original point.

Yep. I have a pool so the more hot weather the better.

I can just picture you making your beer fountain in the middle of the pool on a sunny day.

I prefer winter for fashion reasons. In summer it's too hot to wear anything. It's like shorts and a t-shirt or singlet. That's it.
Are you Cruyff in disguise?

Do you also love chick flicks? What about 1D?

I grew up and worked in the North West part of Western Australia.

Average yearly temp 32C -

Averages
Nov 37.4
Dec 38.9
Jan 39.5

It wasn't uncommon for it to be 30+ at 9-10 in the morning nor was it uncommon to have multiple days of 40-46 any given week.

One day we looked at the thermometer on one of our work trucks, 52C (working in a Gully so its like an oven keeping the heat in).

Anyone on here ever taken a job that were a bit iffy about and then after a week realised it's a complete nightmare?

FML.. will give it another week or so. Really should have been more picky!
