The third hobbit was absolute shite, the first two were pretty decent

LOTR has not aged well after I rewatched it recently, in both script and effects
Really?

LOTR is awesome. Incredible feat of cinema. The effects certainly stand up although even on release I never rated the green ghosts thing in part three.

Seems like everyone here is fond of kiddies films (looking at you SM!). How about proper films for grown ups? Schindler's List is the only one mentioned that I completely agree is a stone wall classic. BttF series? Come on!

The Pianist is another classic along the lines of SL. Another great film dealing with the Holacaust is the "boy in the stripey pyjamas". That was a really hard watch (in a "good" way)

The book was better re: Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. The Pianist was fantastic.

shit.. yep
What a beast he was. You can feel the punches watching it on TV. Imagine being ringside. Imagine being on the end of them! He was never the same after he done time. Reckon he was using steroids from the off though

Blood Diamond
Saving Private Ryan
Lock Stock
Snatch
Pulp Fiction
Old School
Empire Strikes Back
Life of Brian
Taxi Driver
The Godfather

top 10 films. Not sure on the order
Godfather, SPR (my all time favourite), Life of Brian and Blood Diamond I definitely agree with.

Mostly I've found I enjoy almost anything that Tom Hanks is in. Just love him as an actor. Liam Neeson too. Michael Collins and Rob Roy especially whilst most WWII films I enjoy too.

Oh and Kate Beckinsale is nice to watch ;)

Edit: oh and I'll never tire of watching Bambi. Goat of animated films. Probably wore out the VHS watching it over and over.

Tom Hanks is boss. Rarely makes a bad film.

Big
Saving Private Ryan
Cast Away
The Polar Express
Splash
The Money Pit
Toy Story Trilogy
Forrest Gump
Apollo 13
Philadelphia
The 'Burbs
That Thing You Do
Catch Me if You Can
A League of Their Own
You've Got Mail
Sleepless in Seattle
Captain Phillips
Bridge of Spies

It just goes on and on with that guy. I love him.

Can I start a new topic?
Sings that would never get released today - or allowed if you like.

I'll start with this one

Would you pick Tyson v Ali?
Would have been a good fight if they both fought in their youth. Ali wasn't great in close. Could Ali hold off Tyson? Hard to say. When Tyson got in close he destroyed people. Ali's arrogance got him into trouble at times. Would have to be careful doing that against Tyson. Hard to back against Ali though. You'd think his smarts would see him through. Ali on points.

I only watched those stupid vampire/werewolf films because Beckinsdale was in them. She was fit as ****.

Yeah not sure Ali would have the power to knock out Tyson but Ali was so smart that he could weather the early Tyson storm, tire him out a bit and then out box him and win on points. Or maybe knock him out late in the fight. I think he'd approach the fight the exact same way he did against Foreman who was a huge hitter like Tyson.

Not sure Tyson ever fought anyone as quick as Ali too.

That bloke is a joke. I just watched the Klitschko fight. What a shit fight that was. Fury fights with one arm down the whole time. Neither bloke every land anything serious at all. Both look almost the same as when the fight started.

I think Anthony Joshua would knock Fury the **** out.

Kiddies films? Die Hard, Terminator 2, etc. are hardly kiddy films lol.

Ironically enough, I did watch those movies as a kid haha.

Yeah I think I watched Die Hard when I was 6 or something and was terrified. Scene where he pulls the glass out of his feet.. urgh.

Guess it depends what you define as kiddies movies then haha.

Yes true. The film clip for Smack My Bitch Up was something else entirely. I still have it on VHS somewhere. $7.95 from Brashes.

That ending. Magnificent.

That's probably my favourite video of all time. The song doesn't have content that couldn't be released today though. I mean it's quite tame in comparison to what a lot of rappers come out with now. Video not sure though.

Now this is a song that I don't think would get a release today.

Well kiddies films as in films that are just mindless entertainment. I love the first Terminator film (don't care for the ones thereafter) but there is no depth there. I would have thought you would enjoy films with a bit more weight.

I do, but they don't spring to mind when forming a Top Ten list to be honest. I loved Good Will Hunting, Dead Poet's Society, Scent of a Woman, and others but they don't spring to mind as favourites of mine as I've probably only seen each maybe twice. I guess it depends on what sort of list we're forming.
