sorry to intrude, but you have to be joking? guaranteed $1.5M over 3 or guaranteed $600K over 1, at 30 you think the best option is the 1 year contract extension? friggen hilarious. as my good friend uncle would say...

Exactly right, theres no way StKilda in a full blown rebuild mode will sign him on at $600k after this. Id imagine we match the 600k first year with a year or 2 extension closer to the 400 -450 mark.

heres a question and this time ets see if your not a smarta**..

how would north people feel if Dal was your highest paid player, forget about the exact figure but would it make you guys cringe to think he would be your highest paid player? just want to guage the audience here.

1.65 over 3 years wouldnt be an issue for most id think. Everyone knows you have to pay a bit overs $$$ to entice a player to move clubs. Think that universally accepted by fans and players.

LOL and very much so by Dustin Martin :)

We dont have many 3 times AAs thus I cant see many supporters having an issue with it.

Despite reports to the contrary, we are heavily into Sam Docherty and Dayle Garlett.

If Garlett is available at 26, we will take him.

The other interesting fact is Tarrant is on the table for SD.

What are people's thoughts on the Tarrant for Docherty trade if it were to eventuate.
Interesting... I hope we get garlett he is exactly what we need, a mini wells. Docherty don't know much about him?

I think there's a fine line between having a scoop, if that's what it is, and discussing draft plans.

Tarrant for Docherty? I wouldn't think so.

It would be a stupid deal Docherty doesn't fill a need for us and Taz leaving would create a need for us.

Don't get me wrong I'd still take SD just not for Taz.

We will be taking Luke McDonald with #26.

So we are trading both Keys and Tarrant? Will leave us a little short in KP stocks.

Well then, I call BS (Not Brad Scott).
I don't usually come on here to do anything but hang shit on the players, promote youth and talent as quite frankly the goodie goodie aspect of this board drives me insane - but if you care to go back a few years of my posts you'll find how I'm connected.

In any case, this is a football forum last time I checked and as I'm on the North board, this info is worthy of discussion whether you like it or not.

Not everyone is full of shit, I often overrate our youngsters over our mid tier list cloggers, but at least I have an individual thought.

I wouldn't be able to identify Docherty out of line up if my life depended on it, but Taz to me is underwhelming so if we could swap him for more top end talent, then Why the **** not?

Docherty was a pick 8-12?

Doubt we'd get anything more than an upgrade on a few of the faves around these parts.
working with a scenario where you trade because of where they were drafted, would it not be better to trade Black then Tarrant?;) no not interested in the Tarrant (and especially Black) for Docherty who was a pick 12 not 8-12. This fetish some have with Tarrant Hating is plain dumb the bloke has played 38 games and done alright in some, very good in others and not so good in some, he will come good just show a tad more patience.:)

Where did I say not to discuss it? I gave my opinion for discussion, in that I don't believe it.

my apologies for not showing some flyin the respect he does not deserve. now to the question, we have a war chest to spend I doubt any of our players are underpaid and if it helped us secure the prize I doubt anyone would care what he gets paid, however I do care what we give up to get a bloke that in 12 months time will be starting to think about life after football. FA or you can keep him would be my opinion.

u better start looking at other players then. spend your money on betts? or dusty?

i do not see FA being the most probable way of this panning out. as i need to stress moving dal is not a neccessarty, if we keep him then we along with Nick Roo will lead our young kids much like boomer and petrie are doing currently with you. whatever way this pans out i think both clubs win, i realise that may seem silly but if you expand the notion then you could see someone elses opinion on this issue

The thing that Saints fans can't see is how ****** their list is. They do need to get something for Dal. Keep Volt/Hayes for leadership and don't tank but they need to get their hands on some young talent very quickly. I have no doubt their list management team understands the situation they're in.

hahaha this made me laugh, u do realise we are only getting 1 more pick in the proposed dal deal.. its not like your giving us 5 picks to help our list. that one pick has to be weighed up in risk vs reward. This post was easily the funniest post on BF of the day....... i usually respect north supporter posts cause they give good opinions and get people to think but im sorry, this was just a poorly constructed post.

This is 100% spot on, it's clearly the most deplorable list in the comp.

Outside of Stevens they're future talent is very shallow.

more then happy to take the next best kid with our draft pick, Bryce tends to get them right, St Kilda can lead their young kids to the promised land with Lenny Hayes, Sam Fisher, Nick Crywoldt, Leigh Montagna, Sean Dempster, Clinton Jones and Nick Del Santo all 30 or over at the start of next season that is seven players that are not going to be part of anything, you can add Schnieder as well but he will be a few months shy of 30 or St Kilda can let NDS come to North via FA and gain a prized end of first round compensation pick and add another talented kid to your list.

now, you want Delaney, just wondering what St Kilda will have to pay for him in trade considering they did not want to try and get to a win/win at the end of trade week, without NDS involved I think we would be asking for your 2nd rounder (pick 21 as it currently stands, demand = value), we would be happy with a mid 2nd rounder, but you don't have one of them, I doubt we would push Luke towards St Kilda for a third rounder.

repeating again a win/win would be

Saints gets Delaney and pick 43 (as it currently stands)
North gets pick 37 (as it currently stands)

North gets NDS
Saints get end of round one compensation pick (19 as it stands now)

if I had anything to do with it I would try to squeeze an exchange of 2nd rounders too, but like you I just want more then what is reasonable for my club.:D
