this baseline-gate thing is stupid. these guys play in summer league games, rucker park, other outdoor events. there are people lining the courtside, metal wire fences etc. its a freak accident.

It looks like his leg collided with the support though and that's why his leg did what it did.
He's not the first and won't be the last to run into that padding. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying peoples natural reaction is to blame a third party rather than accept that the human body is not a flawless machine.

We saw Kevin Ware do the exact same thing last year with no impact required except for the hardwood itself. This could have been the exact same scenario.

For those who know, why does the bone coming through the skin make it a worse injury?
My emergency nurse source says breaking the skin significantly increases the risk of infection and also means surgery must happen quicker which can cause soft tissue complications (whereas if the skin isn't broken they can do a closed reduction and wait for swelling to decrease before surgery)

Generally takes longer to heal as well because of the complications and the extra tissue damage.

I feel so horrible for Paul, he was just on the cusp of being a superstar.

Larry Bird's gotta be so pissed, Pacers are done for the upcoming season, and the next few depending on how George recovers from this, if he ever does, just a horrible situation.
