Im not sure of the exact deadlines, but if Im Mark Cuban (Im not), I sign Parsons to a qualifying offer. 40/4.

Force them to overpay Parsons, or let him go and invest in a 20% chance of getting Melo.
They have 72 hours but I think that only starts if he signs the offer sheet, I don't know they legalities of it but I'd assume Houston would get him to hold off on signing it until (if) they get confirmation of Melo signing there.

Until they renounce his rights, he still has a cap hold on their cap and I dont think they could sign Melo.

Im pretty sure its one or the other, but Im wrong 97% of the time about cap stuff

Reading some of the Kidd stuff on Nets Daily and it's pretty amazing.

Some power trip Kidd's on. Can't even fathom why the Bucks would be entertaining the idea...

Cap space has never won a playoff game. If they think 2 big men with injury history, a PG who cant shoot, and a stashed Euro is a reasonable rebuilding plan, they have no idea.

Classic case of a GM who is buying time before he can be judged as incompetent.
I assume you're talking about the reigning ROTY here? The 76ers are building a very formidable team and I really hope they don't feel the pinch from critics like you that don't see the big picture and wuss out. Too many teams try to rush their rebuild by overpaying overrated role-players. I'm excited to see how this team turns out in the next couple of years.

Bucks only offering Kidd the head coaching position. Fair to assume he's now in it for Kerr/Fisher money over increased control?

ZBo back on 2/20... nice deal for Memphis

Wiz pick up Dre's option

Stein reports a Salmons for Lou Williams trade also involving the Brazilian guy

'Sources told ESPN.com that the teams were in "deep discussions" on a deal to send Salmons to Atlanta for Williams in time for the Hawks to be able to waive Salmons and pay only $1 million to buy him out of next season's $7 million salary.

The Hawks, sources say, will immediately waive Salmons to expand their projected salary-cap space for this summer to $15.5 million, though one source cautioned Sunday that the move is more about flexibility and roster-shaping for the Hawks than any specific free-agent target.

Sources say that the Raptors will also acquire the rights to Brazilian big man Lucas Nogueira from the Hawks. Nogueira played for Estudiantes in Spain after being selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2013 draft.'

I remain convinced that Masai is some sort of secret evil genius. Have a feeling he might hound Denver for Javale or Timofey as well.

Crazy about Jason Kidd, must be on a massive Ego trip to force a promotion like that after 1 year of Senior Coaching experience!

The Salmon's release could end up being good timing, if he finally wants to win he would be a great fit at either Miami or the Clippers I think

Well his draft was turrible :p

Atlanta just dumping salary for a reason i cant quite put my finger on.

Toronto add another raw prospect and a 6th man.

Getting JaVale off our books would be incredible.
No one is that silly....unless Miami are clearing space to acquire him :D

Well potentially, Caboclo could scale great heights to become a tricky question at Raptors quiz nights in a few years :D

Perhaps Atlanta has their eye on another power forward that exactly replicates the skill set of Horford and Millsap?

I believe in McGee but I think he is more than happy to occupy a roster spot selling jugs and making regular appearances on Shaqtin' A Fool.

Honestly I still think they would have been better trading him to LA for 7 and taking Exum if that deal would have worked for LA
Probably, but that relies on LA coming to the table.

What do you think of the way Philly is rebuilding?

Hate it from a fans perspective as someone who wants to watch good competitive basketball games, but really you can't fault it. It's exactly the way OKC built their team, and if they hit their draft picks they'll be hard to stop in 3 or 4 years. But you do wonder about examples of tanking teams like Melbourne, and what effect a losing culture has on players development. Philly won't be able to land a top tier guy through free agency without massively overpaying, so they have to find their stars via the draft.

I am hoping there is something a little more useful in the trade. Frankly Lou and Nogueira should be worth a non lottery first rounder each, not combined for a salary dump.

But then if this was such a 'surprise' to the NBA world then whatever Ferry has planned next (example: Lebron) would be equally secretive.

Ok maybe not Lebron, maybe Deng. I dunno.
