I'm confused. So, you can trade picks for coaches, but not players?
As far as I paid attention to the Rivers/Clippers deal last year (ie not much), yes, that is my understanding.

Although, the Bucks do need a point guard...

Also, why do North MidWestern teams produce such bizarre coaching recruitment stories?

Can't decide which was stranger; the Wolves poaching Joerger from a playoff team, only to lose him again and subsequently have the GM hire their former coach - HIMSELF - instead...

Or this.

really weird.

Kidd wasn't in a position to be demanding anything.

Having said that 2-3 years from now the Bucks should be better than the Nets unless the Russian wants to spend a LOT of money

So LBJ is after the max eh

Currently, seven teams have the cap space to offer James a deal starting at $22.2 million next season: the Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz,Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic.

Cleveland might be able to clear room as well.

I think we can strike Utah and Philly from that list immediately, probably Orlando as well. Cuban suggests that Dallas will not be offering the max, but surely he at least meets with Lebrons agent.

Phoenix.... intriguing but I dont see him moving there...

Houston and Chicago would need some major deals to free up the cap space

The Kidd deal and situation is certainly strange, just seems like it came out of the blue. Yeah sure the Bucks probably have a better future with such a young and "mouldable" core but still, very strange!

Abit surprised about LBJ wanting the Max, it does slightly hamper our cap situation and may be the difference between a Lowry type and an a grade a spud. Anyone know the dates all these deals need to be signed ?

Free agency opens today, but the Heat will need to re-sign or renounce James/Wade/Bosh to actually clear any cap space as their cap holds alone would just about cover the whole cap.

Lowry is a pipe dream mate. Toronto are going to make him a very attractive offer first thing.

How do cap holds work if players Opt out though?
The rule is designed so that a team can not have guys opt out, then sign a max FA with cap space, and then re-sign their existing free agents with Bird rights. By renouncing them, they can clear the cap hold, but they cannot use Bird rights to exceed the cap to re-sign them

Pipe Dreams are the best Dreams. I wouldn't be suprised if he actually turned down their offer, Toronto isn't actually a destination place in the NBA sense

Interesting info on the cap hold, cheers for that, it isn't something I had ever really looked into but it does make sense with the Bird Rights.

I just wish we could fast forward 2 weeks and actually know where everyone is going to land!
