1969 - Jerry West - last time it went to a loser.

Lebron might have been the BEST player out there - but he wasnt the most valuable.

Everything he did was of 0 value to his team - because they didnt get a ring. Every shot he made, every assist he dished off had no value - because all it got them was 2nd place

Thats hilarious logic by that logic Bogut was closer to MVP than LBJ.

So riddle me this then

Russell Westbrook MVP? Okc would have won ten games without him.

At what point do we put a caveat on losing?

The mvp hasn't come a less than 50 win team for a long time, the finals mvp from the losing team once.

It's no different to the brownlow, the norm Smith and basically every individual award given in any sport.

Cleveland take it to 7 then you have a case. Getting beat down in 3 consecutive games to finish in 6 takes the case away

Jerry west won it in a losing 7 game series that they lost by 2 points at home in game 7 and he had as good a series as lebron had here

Sure but that doesn't mean that the most valuable player isn't in a sub 50 win team. It's actually pretty easy to estimate the number of wins a player adds to his team: win shares. James Harden led the league in WS this season; Durant last season and LeBron for a number of seasons before that.

Replace LeBron with Iggy and the Finals would have been a sweep. Swap LeBron with Curry and it probably would've been a sweep as well. LeBron was he sole reason why the Cavs controlled the first three games and the only reason they were ever in contention in any single game. He effectively dragged the Knicks (+ TT and Delly) to within two games of the championship. It was an absurd performance that was every bit deserving of the MVP even if the series didn't got to seven games.

The 'Most Valuable Player' isn't the actual by definition 'Most Valuable Player'.

It's more the 'This guy was good on the good/winning team' the TGWGOTGWT award if you will, rolls off the tongue.

Yet Curry led in WS/48 minutes and VORP and Westy led plus minus

Numbers can be made to say anything... especially when the margins between them are so small

Yep - anyone who doesnt think Lebron james is the most valuable player is a troll.

Thats the standard response by someone who doesnt know what the **** theyre talking about

anyone that does not think he was the MVP in that particular series is just a hater, his support cast is basically a 30 win team trying to compete in the NBA finals and it goes 6 games and he averages 37/12/9 insane stuff.

The difference between Wade and Dirk in 2011 and LeBron and Iggy in 2015 is night and day. It is, at the very least, possible to justify choosing Dirk who really was excellent in that series.
Yeah not the point though.

What worked against LeBron was the lack of real competitiveness in the series after Cleveland's surprising start.

Congrats to all the Dubs contingent on here - djrossie Oliver King mitchzz and many more besides.

Westy Bogan gets my nomination for Finals Posting MVP for providing the mirth amid a sea of reactionary drivel.

To wit...

Haha LeChoke! Another finals loss on the resume!

What's the record now? 2 wins 7 losses in East finals/the finals.

Always good to see the cavs lose. LeBron is now 2-4 in NBA finals. Yep, he is greatness.

LeQuit 2-6 in finals, brilliant.

Idjits.

Doesn't matter. Should Wade have won the Finals MVP in 2011 when he was better than Dirk?

I understand your point, but you can't compare Wade to Dirk the same way we are comparing LeBron to Iggy. Iggy was a shadow of what LeBron was this series. If we want to define MVP as "the player that was the biggest factor in helping the team win" then that's placing a caveat on who is eligible to win the MVP and if that's the case, Curry has an argument because he was the biggest factor at the end of the day. But they measured it on who they thought was the best player which means LeBron has an argument. Either way, I don't think Iggy should have won.

Lol - picking up a few baskets in a basketcase of a team is "more" than winning the game when it counts like Iggy and Steph did.

Please.
So why did Steph fail to poll a single MVP vote whilst LeBron got 4?

Can't wait to hear this.

Congrats to the Warriors. Super pleased for Steve Kerr for obvious reasons.

As for all the whinging and crying about LeBron not winning Finals MVP. His team lost.

His team lost.

His team lost.

His team lost.

Why dont people understand this??

Because there is a massive case for him being Finals MVP. Other than Jerry West, there hasn't really been a finals performer on a losing side like James.

I don't think he should have won it but I can see the argument.
