Stern:

We've agreed a) that we have sort of stopped the clock and we continue to negotiate. We've agreed to continue tomorrow at noontime.

I would not read into this optimism or pessimism as we continue to negotiate.

Nothing was worked out today.

League did not drop proposal back to 47%, won't do so until after current negotiation session ends.

We weren't going to stop in the middle, We're trying to demonstrate our good faith.

Every day that we lose another game it just enhances the case to make a deal and causes both sides to recognise the damage.

We're not failing and we're not succeeding. We're just there.

Fisher:

We won't be able to elaborate on any details or any significant progress.

We spent a lot of time covering the issues. We can't say that there was significant progress today, but we're going to meet tomorrow.

On 50-50: What we stated yesterday was an openness and a willingness to come off of our number.

(re: NBA being receptive to union's willingness to make economic move) Not as much as we'd like.

Obviously, we'd have a deal done if the right flexibility was being shown.

We're going to meet again tomorrow to give it our best effort, but we don't know if it will be enough.

Hunter:

I think there was enough give and take on both sides to warrant us coming back tomorrow.

Didn't make much headway on any of the five system issues.

Sides aren't agreed on a 50-50 split, but that's semantics. Nothing's agreed on until a deal is. But they're there.

Woj says union talking it down:

After calling deal within "striking distance" a few weeks ago, union's determined to under sell progress to keep players off rollercoaster.

This remains a tenuous process but the owners wouldn't have, as Stern termed it,, "stopped the clock," without real progress. Onto Thursday.

David Aldridge:

Okay. Progress made on 3 of 5 system issues, according to source. MLE still a problem. And a couple of new issues added to mix.

Not clear if new issues will be problematic on their own, or can be solved if the other system issues get fixed.

Meanwhile, source says players "ready to go" with disclaimer of interest filing w/NLRB if talks break down. Different from decertification.

1 morsel of hope today: ending talks relatively early allows more time Thu. to try & break thru-or at least keep clock stopped until Fri.

As far as BRI, union is at 50. Negotiations on system are predicated on that number; league wouldn't talk about system changes otherwise.

i shall provide you cliffs:

Hit the wrong ball
Spat the dummy and 3 putted
Next hole he hit around 6 balls in the drink
Ran out of balls, shook hands and went home

I'm pretty sure half the crowd has come straight from a bogan beach party. Next thing you know they'll be letting black people play golf...
Anyone with HA on one cheek, PPY on the other?

owners were so upset by Tuesday's player press conference that they nearly refused to meet b4 Wed's deadline. Stern must've calmed them down

What ****ing babies.

Dave Checketts (former president of Knicks, Jazz; current consultant to owner of Pistons) wants to be the news-breaker, has reported that a deal has been reached and the lockout is over. Already back-pedalling in the same interview apparently.

Of course, the meeting is still going, five hours in...

@OldHossRadbourn
A trusted source has told me there is an agreement between the NBA and the Players' Union. I am speaking of course about my opium pipe.

Woj:

After finishing call with owners' labor relations committee, David Stern will deliver union a revised offer tonight, league sources tell Y!

Owners revised offer will be working off current negotiations with players -- not the threatened 'reset' offer awaiting if talks broke down.

Meeting is over, it's expected that a revised offer has been made by the league, which the union will digest overnight. Players first to speak, then league.

Fisher:
We've worked at it for the last couple of days. Right now we have... a revised proposal from the NBA. It does not meet us entirely.

We've decided to end things for now, take a step back... confer with our player reps and other players over the next few days.

We still would like to negotiate and try to get a deal done but right now, it's not that time.

What we found also over the last couple of days was that there were several other issues that were key to getting a CBA done.

On a couple of the issues, there was some change, there was some revision from the proposal we saw before.

NBA's offer isn't enough "to try and entice us to finish this out tonight."

Not enough progress to get a deal done.

Don't know if they characterised it as their "last, best offer."
